Course Description: With a focus on maintenance, operation, and safety, this training will <br />

equip attendees with the knowledge and information necessary to take the RETA exam <br />

while reducing energy usage and operating costs, and improve the reliability of refrigeration <br />

systems. This course will help guide attendees to efficiently manage and minimize industrial <br />

refrigeration systems through awareness of applied best practices and strategies for <br />

refrigeration operations. Course work will review three RETA course books: <strong>Industrial</strong> <br />

<strong>Refrigeration</strong> I, <strong>Industrial</strong> <strong>Refrigeration</strong> II, and Basics Electricity II. (Note-­‐Students are <br />

expected to obtain the manuals on their own prior to the course). RETA is a nationally <br />

recognized standard for industrial plant refrigeration operators. Attendees will have to <br />

schedule and take the online CARO or CIRO exams following the training on their own time <br />

at their own expense. <br />

Registration Fee: $299* <br />

*Fee includes Expo admittance, handouts, light breakfast, some beverages. Register online <br />

through the NWFPA Expo site or call 503.327.2200. Course is limited to 35. <br />

Manuals are not included at this price. Recommended RETA books are IR1, IR2, and Basic <br />

Elect 2 and may be purchased from RETA using the Publications Order Form. <br />

Optional Exam <br />

Attendees who plan on obtaining RETA certification will work with Scott Henderson <br />

(scott@reta.com) to schedule the exam and complete all paperwork and payments prior to <br />

Instructor: Greg Jourdan is currently the <br />

director and instructor of Environmental <br />

<strong>Systems</strong> & <strong>Refrigeration</strong> Technology for <br />

Wenatchee Valley College. He teaches <br />

industrial refrigeration courses for utilities <br />

and industry and emphasizes applied <br />

solutions to reducing energy costs within <br />

facilities. He also conducts seminars for <br />

Washington State University Energy <br />

Extension Office and private businesses <br />

regarding energy conservation strategies for <br />

HVACR systems and controls in commercial <br />

and industrial facilities. He has taught <br />

industrial refrigeration review Classes for <br />

the past 27 years and is currently a RETA <br />

CIRO certificate holder. <br />
