past decade, the project area has grown as a potential site for the development of educational
institutions. Some of the renowned schools like Delhi Public School, Modern Convent School,
N.K. Bagrodia School, Bal Bharati School, St. Mary, Bal Bhavan International, DAV, Mary
School, ITL Public School, Venkateshwar etc. exist in the area.
In Delhi, the per capita expenditure on education (including Sports, and Art & Culture) is Rs
926.83 in 2003-04 which is far above the national level of Rs 749.29. With the increase in demand,
more growth in educational infrastructure will likely to come up in the project area.
4.10.4 Health
The project area is in advantageous position in terms of healthcare infrastructure. There exists many
general / intermediate hospitals, polyclinics, nursing homes in the area. Many more government
and private healthcare facilities are being developed in the project area.
4.10.5 Economic Aspects
The project area is witnessing a fast growth in the economic activities. Many big shopping
complexes, malls, and hotels are coming up in the area. This will enhance the economic status of
the project area vis-à-vis other parts of the city. Well positioned infrastructure of the project area is
one of the dictating factors for the promoters to set up many economic centers in the area. The
location of district centers in the project area will become the major commercial centres in future.
The commercial hub of the area is also being developed along the Metro Railway Line in a linear
form.
4.10.6 Cultural Heritage
Delhi has numerous historic buildings and cultural heritage sites. The ecologically and
environmentally sensitive sites as shown in Figure 4.16 need to be protected from the impact of
any development. However, none of these sites are located within 1 km from the proposed project
site.
4.10.7 Aesthetic Aspects
The landscape concept of the project area has evolved a system of open spaces which have the
potential to develop into a landscape with distinctive visual qualities, fulfilling the required
ecological and recreational functions. The location and alignment of existing landscape features
have been used to structure the development of the area.
