• Thermal Characteristics of Building Envelope
The proposed project will follow the following U-factors related to the building
envelopes:
- Roof U-value (max): 0.12 Btu per hour per sq. ft per degree F
- Max U-value of over wall assembly: 0.36 Btu per hour per sq. ft per degree F
- Window (max): 1.13 Btu per hour per sq. ft per degree F
- Window to wall ratio: 3.13 Btu per hour per sq. ft per degree F
• Characteristics of Glass
The project will provide heat reflected, tinted and toughened glass having properties
which will make it energy saving element in the building and shall provide safety and
transparency of the desired level. The glass of 6 mm and weight of 15 kgs / sqm will be
provided.
• Energy Saving Measures
- Use of solar water heating system has been proposed in the project for the
residential complex.
- Energy efficient appliances will be installed in the building.
- Constant monitoring of energy consumption and defining targets for energy
conservation will be employed.
- Compact fluorescent lamps and low voltage lighting system will be used
- Sunscreen films on windows to reduce heating inside the buildings will be used.
- Awareness on energy conservation will be raised among the users of the buildings
in the complex.
