Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment (REIA) Study for Proposed Integrated Complex for Delhi Judicial Academy, National Law School, and National Institute for Mediation & Conciliation at Dwarka, New Delhi 7.2.7 Traffic Pattern • Heavy vehicular movement will be restricted to daytime only and adequate parking facility will be provided. 7.3 Mitigation Measures during Operation 7.3.1 Air Quality • Use of ultra low sulphur diesel will be used in the DG sets. • Green belt development with specific species will reduce SPM levels. • Use of clean fuel by the vehicles will reduce the emission of pollutants. 7.3.2 Noise • Proposed project site is within an institutional / residential area. • All noise generating sources in the complex will be equipped with appropriate noise control measures. Sound levels will be consistent with local government regulations. • Ambient noise levels will be periodically monitored to determine compliance with the norms. • Noise levels will also be monitored at point sources for occupational noise exposure and ensuring health risk. 7.3.3 Land Environment • Solid waste generated from the STP will be reused for horticulture purpose within and outside the complex. • Domestic solid waste generated from the court and residential complex will be segregated in biodegradable and non biodegradable. The unutilized and non reused waste shall be disposed to a designated municipal landfill site in the project area. 124
Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment (REIA) Study for Proposed Integrated Complex for Delhi Judicial Academy, National Law School, and National Institute for Mediation & Conciliation at Dwarka, New Delhi 7.3.4 Ground Water Quality and Quantity • Rainwater harvesting for optimum utilization of rainwater to recharge the ground water level / borewell area to be adopted. • Well design storm water network to collect the rain water from the site area and diverted to the proposed rainwater harvesting pits for recharging the ground water. • All efforts to conserve water in the complex to comply with the standards of water conservation practices. • Ground water quality shall be periodically monitored and records shall be reviewed and analyzed on regular basis. 7.3.5 Infrastructure • Run off from building areas during rains will be utilized for harvesting and recharge of ground water. Appropriate water conservation measures will be adopted in regular activities. • Vegetative barriers along the site boundary will act as a noise barrier. • The domestic sewage generated from the complex will be linked to STP being set up on-site. The treated water will be reused for flushing of toilets and hence will reduce the fresh water consumption for the same activity. 7.3.6 Traffic Pattern • Vehicle movement will be regulated inside the site with adequate roads and parking lots. 7.4 Human Health and Safety Management Plan 125
