Important Information
for the
VTAC course application
This document explains the fees associated with and information collected
by the VTAC course application, and contains an applicant declaration and
authority statement.
Please take time to review the entire document before proceeding.
If you have any questions about the content of this document, you should

clarification before proceeding or submitting any VTAC application.
Fees & Payment
The VTAC course application has associated fees. Please refer to
http://www.vtac.edu.au/dates for a full listing of fees associated with lodging a
course application.
VTAC does not refund or waive fees.
Payment of all processing fees is necessary for the course application to be
considered by institutions. Only paid applications are passed to institutions
for selection consideration. Unpaid course applications are cancelled upon the
application closing date. For dates, refer to http://www.vtac.edu.au/dates.
Payment of fees can only be done online.
Information that VTAC collects and privacy considerations
VTAC recognises the importance of protecting personal information and is bound
by the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Victoria), the principles outlined in the
National Privacy Policy (2001) and the Health Privacy Principles (Health Records
Act 2001).
VTAC institutions are not permitted to sell or trade your information without your
express permission and are bound to all VTAC privacy and ethics rules through
contractual agreement.
VTAC collects personal information for the primary purpose of processing your
course application for admission to tertiary institutions.
The secondary purposes for collecting this information include:

1. Assisting you, by providing the appropriate support services, should you have
a disability.
2. Assisting institutions with government reporting requirements.
3. Meeting the reporting requirements of the Department of Industry, Innovation,
Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE), or its successor, for
the purpose of:
o use in connection with the Higher Education Information
Management System (HEIMS); and/or
o use in connection with the National Data Collection on University
Applications and Offers; and/or
o other collections as DIISRTE, or its successor, may lawfully require
from time-to-time.
The type of personal information VTAC collects and holds includes your contact
details (name, address, telephone number, email address), date of birth, place of
birth, disabilities (optional), ethnicity, gender, citizenship, languages spoken at
home, educational achievements/qualifications, professional qualifications,
employment experience, examination results, and parental education level.
If you are a currently studying the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE),
Victorian Certificate of Applied Language (VCAL) or the International
Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia, your results will be held, along with secondary
results from other states and territories in Australia, in an archival database at
VTAC. If you are eligible for an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) or
Notional ATAR, this will be calculated and held in the database. Your results,
including your ATAR, will be held on similar archives at tertiary admission centres
in other states in Australia. Results held on these archives will only be accessed
by the relevant tertiary admission centre or member institution if you initiate an
application for courses through that centre or if you submit an application for
tertiary study directly with an institution participating in that centre.
If you undertake university studies in Australia and, if VTAC has been able to
access your results electronically, a Grade Point Average (GPA) will be
calculated and circulated to institutions to which you have applied.
If you subsequently initiate a VTAC application for Special Entry Access
Schemes (SEAS) or Scholarships, the personal information collected from the
course application and VTAC registration will be populated and used as outlined
in the VTAC privacy policy for lodging a SEAS or Scholarships application.
Supporting documentation sent to VTAC becomes the property of VTAC and may
be attached to any application you lodge. If you do not provide supporting
information that is requested, it may jeopardise your entitlement for a course
offer.
You have a right to access personal and sensitive information that VTAC holds
about you subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation.

Applicant declaration and authority statement
To lodge a VTAC course application, you must read, understand and agree to the
following terms and conditions before submitting your application for courses.
Persons lodging unauthorised applications on behalf of other parties will be liable
to further action and expense. Full investigations will be conducted into the
submission of unauthorised applications.
By submitting a VTAC course application, you are agreeing to the following terms
and conditions:
1. I declare that I have read and understand the advice and instructions in
this document.
2. I declare that I will provide true and complete information while completing
my VTAC course application or will contact VTAC or self correct any errors
or omissions immediately.
3. I authorise VTAC and participating institutions to obtain available official
records from any education institution attended by me. I understand that
VTAC is not responsible if any institution does not provide these records.
4. I authorise VTAC to verify any information provided by me.
5. I authorise VTAC to provide all information and documents provided with
and/or obtained in connection with this application to any institution to
which I have made application for admission.
6. I authorise VTAC to collect, receive, store, transfer and use any
information provided by me, or any information obtained in connection with
this application, and to disclose such information to all participating
institutions, Universities Australia, Universities Australia member
institutions, the members of the Australasian Conference of Tertiary
Admissions Centres (ACTAC), and any other authority or tertiary
educational institution either in Australia or overseas where VTAC
reasonably considers it is necessary to make such disclosure.
7. I authorise any future educational institution I attend as a result of this
application to provide all my results from future studies to VTAC or a
person nominated by VTAC. I authorise VTAC or the nominated person to
collect, receive, store, transfer and use all such information and all
information in or connected with this application for research purposes. I
give these authorities on condition that all information provided pursuant to
them is de-identified by VTAC or the nominated person.

8. I understand that VTAC may disclose the personal information I have
given in this application to the Department of Industry, Innovation,
Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE), or its successor,
for the purpose of:
(i) use in connection with the Higher Education Information
Management System (HEIMS); and/or
(ii) use in connection with the National Data Collection on University
Applications and Offers; and/or
(iii) other collections as DIISRTE, or its successor, may lawfully require
from time-to-time
9. I understand that VTAC and the participating institutions have the right to
vary or cancel an application or enrolment made on the basis of what
VTAC or a participating institution determines to be untrue or incomplete
information from any source.
10. I understand that VTAC, on behalf of the participating institutions, makes
offers based on the information provided by me and on advice received
from VTAC. If a participating institution subsequently finds that the
information or advice was incorrect, it may withdraw the offer.
11. I understand that all fees paid to VTAC in connection with my application
are not refundable under any circumstances.
