| 32 H ομάδα που έφερε στη μόδα ξανά το swing δημιουργώντας
τα πιο απρόβλεπτα πάρτυ, εμπνέεται από το La vie en rose,
το Grease, when Frankie met Fred και εισβάλλει σε δημόσιες
υπηρεσίες, bowling centers και αίθουσες κινηματογράφου
αναταράσσοντας την ροή της καθημερινότητας.
Η διάδοση του Lindy Hop, στην αμερικανική και στη διεθνή
mainstream κουλτούρα οφείλεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό σε τέσσερις
παράγοντες: στις ταινίες του Χόλιγουντ, στα στούντιο χορού
και στους εκπαιδευτές, όπως ο Arthur Murray, στα χορευτικά συγκροτήματα
που πραγματοποιούσαν περιοδίες, και στους απλούς
ανθρώπους (π.χ. στα αμερικανικά στρατεύματα στο Β ‘Παγκόσμιο
Πόλεμο φέρνοντας Lindy Hop στις νέες χώρες). Ένας απο τους
σημαντικοτερους εκπροσώπους του Lindy Hop στο Χόλιγουντ
ήταν ο Dean Collins.
Σύμφωνα με το μύθο της swing ιστορίας, ο Dean Collins έμαθε
Lindy Hop στην αίθουσα χορού Savoy Ballroom και πήγε το χορό
μέχρι τη Δυτική ακτή των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών. Χόρεψε σε μια
σειρά από ταινίες του Χόλιγουντ που γρήγορα εδραίωσαν τη δημοτικότητα

To Lindy Hop Greece, εκπροσωπώντας το χορό αυτό αλλά και

This team brought swing back into fashion, putting on the
most unpredictable of parties. Inspired by La vie en rose,
Grease and When Frankie Met Fred, they burst into public
service offices, bowling centres and cinema halls, shaking up
the steady flow of everyday life.
The spread of Lindy Hop in American and international mainstream
culture occurred, to a great degree, on account of four
factors: Hollywood films; dance studios and coaches like Arthur
Murray; touring dance groups; and, ordinary people (eg US World
War Two military personnel who brought Lindy Hop to other
countries). One of the most important exponents of Lindy Hop
in Hollywood was Dean Collins.
According to the myth on the origins and early history of swing,
Dean Collins picked up the Lindy Hop in the Savoy Ballroom
and from there took the dance as far as the US West Coast. He
danced in a series of Hollywood films that quickly established
the popularity of swing music and dance. Frankie Manning and
other African-American dancers also appeared in key films of
that period, one that has been considered the starting-point of
the art of the cinema.
Lindy Hop Greece, which represents this dance as well as every
other type of performance dance, presents dramatised scenes
reproduced from Grease, La Mome and Swing Kids, in addition
to Lindy Hop swing dance scenes from films made in the Twenties
all the way up to Marilyn Manson video clips.
