RSC President James Cook and University of Central Oklahoma President Roger Webb signed an articulation agreement to offer a Bachelor of Business Administration degree on the RSC campus. We Value Learning The institution is a learning-centered environment where students and staff will be afforded ample opportunity to succeed in meeting their educational goals as partners in the pedagogical process. RSC & UCO Partnership Rose State College President James Cook and University of Central Oklahoma President Roger Webb signed a memorandum of understanding and articulation agreement for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, which will now be offered on the RSC campus. The Baptist Student Union building was purchased by RSC and has been remodeled to house the new University Center. New Degree Is Approved Rose State College was approved to offer an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Computer Game Development and Simulation (CGDS) in fall 2006, making it one of the few colleges in the country to offer the degree. Brain Gain Grant Rose State College was one of only five colleges and universities awarded a Brain Gain Improvement Grant from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in December 2005. The Summer Bridge Program provided academic and student support services to potential highrisk students in their transition to college and to increase student performance on the COMPASS student assessment test. Earn Degree via Internet Rose State College students can now earn an associate degree through the Internet in seven programs beginning with the fall 2006 semester. RSC students can complete online Associate in Arts degrees in Business, English, History, Liberal Studies and Social Sciences and Associate in Applied Science degrees in E-Commerce and Webmaster and Library Technical Assistant. Thirty-one teachers from Mid- Del and Crutcho schools participated in a program to increase their subject knowledge in mathematics and science. Teachers Take Science Classes Thirty-one teachers from Mid-Del and Crutcho schools were on campus in June 2006 for a two-week class to increase their subject knowledge and teaching skills of mathematics and science. The class was funded by a $170,000 grant from the Oklahoma State Department of Education to cover stipends for participants, specialized equipment and materials and the cost of RSC content specialists. Program Provides Training The Athletic Training program, directed by Chris Leland, is unique in giving Rose State students the opportunity to have hands-on experience in their first two years of college. This not only provides experiential learning to the students but also a great service to the College and the athletes. In the 2005-2006 athletic seasons, student athletic trainers provided 4,500 hours of on-the-field coverage. Internet Enrollment Increases As the number of course offerings via the Internet has increased at Rose State College, so has enrollment in these classes. Internet classes in summer 2005, fall 2005 and spring 2006 semesters increased to 280 sections, 6,360 duplicated enrollments and 18,218 credit hours. Courses offered on the Internet account for 13.83% of the College’s FTE enrollment. Programs Collaborating The Engineering, Physics and Mathematics programs are collaborating with the University of Central Oklahoma to provide internships at Tinker Air Force Base and area corporations for Rose State College students. These internships will provide on-the-job training and experience, as well as monetary awards, for RSC students. Rose State College now offers students an opportunity to earn seven degrees online via the Internet.
