Shopper’s Delight
Everyone enjoys a day in the shops and in Swindon the
variety is outstanding and won’t break the bank!
At the Great Western Designer Outlet village, with over
100 designers label stores and discounts of between
30 and 50 per cent on top brands you’re sure to
find something that will catch your eye. The fabulous
selection of stores includes the L K Bennett Hobbs,
Charles Tyrwhitt, Timberland, Thomas Pink and Ted
Baker. There is also a great selection of top high street
brands that include Gap, Next, Marks & Spencer and
many more. The dedicated ‘At Home’ section offers
everything from china and crystal to home furnishing and
kitchenware shops.
What makes the Outlet Village so unique is its setting in
the splendidly restored Victorian buildings of the Great
Western Railway Works, where original memorabilia
has been restored. A rare collection of overhead cranes
adorn the malls while the large central food court is
dominated by a Great Western Locomotive – currently
Hagley Hall, whose sister locomotive starred in Harry
Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone, hauling the Hogwarts
Express.
The popular weekly Farmers’ Market is held outside the
Swindon Designer Outlet every Sunday from 1000-1600
hrs.
Old Town offers a more traditional shopping
environment, where you will find several long established
family businesses. Offerings include antiques, jewellery,
unusual home furnishings, books and art.
The town centre offers a fabulous mixture of shops.
Many of these are located within the Brunel Shopping
Centre. Here you will find big brand names such
as Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, as well as the
specialist stores that include John Anthony and Forum.
The Parade, with its distinctive and decorative canopies,
houses even more shops as does Regent Street and
Canal Walk. Take a relaxing break from shopping in one
of the café bars, pubs or restaurants.
The Farmers Market is held on the second Friday of each
month in Canal Walk, buy fresh produce straight from
the farm. A great choice of jams, pickles, cheeses, soups,
pastries, olives, organic produce, herbs and much more.
Shopmobility is available for anyone with limited mobility
and provides a selection of manual and powered
wheelchairs and scooters to help people with mobility
difficulties to shop and use the facilities in the Town
Centre.

Out-Of-Town Shopping
Swindon has many out-of-town shopping centres with
large stores selling a range of goods and services covering
virtually anything you might need. All of the out-of-town
centres have extensive car parking facilities
To the North of Swindon located in the Abbey Meads/
Priory Vale area of north Swindon is the most recent
addition to Swindon’s out-of-town complexes. The
Asda-Walmart complex is one of Europe’s largest
superstores. This vast shopping centre covers virtually
all shopping needs under one roof: food, clothes, home
improvements materials and much more are all readily
available. The complex also includes a multitude of
retailer outlets including Next, JJB’s, Homebase, Borders
book shop, Comet, a Travel Agents, several Estate
Agents, a Bookmakers, and even a library.
To the East of Swindon
Towards east Swindon is the Greenbridge Retail and
Leisure Park. Covering several acres, the facilities include
large-store facilities for a range of household brands like
Boots, Mothercare, Argos, PC World, Currys and JJB
– to name but a few! The complex also has a range of
leisure activites such as a Cineworld 12-screen multiplex
cinema, a Gala Bingo Club, a private health and fitness
club and many restaurants and fast food outlets.
