Genesis of the
Maestro
With an exciting and successful musical
career spanning over two decades,
Kojo Antwi ‘Mr Music Man’ has
established himself as a consummate vocalist; a
prolific songwriter, producer and arranger; and
an enigmatic performer, making him arguably
the best Ghanaian muss alive. Over the years,
he has delighted lovers of good music with his
clear and flawlessly seductive voice that radiates
through his massive repertoire of smooth and
sultry ballads. His music defies categorization
and is often a blend of West Africa’s highlife,
Caribbean’s lover’s rock and a dash of Afro-
America’s soul and R&B.
Life In The Middle School
Kojo Antwi had his middle school education at
Odorkor 1 and 2,from age 13 through to age 17.
Interestingly; it was a middle school then. At the
time, the separate shift was in operation; some
came in the morning and others in the afternoon
shift. To go to school, teenaged Kojo Antwi
had to walk from Darkuman to Odorkor every
day because he wasn’t residing in the boarding
house.
Whilst in middle school , Mr. Music Man had
several nicknames that kept changing because he
was into music. One of them was “Nas Turner
Black Tornado”, a name Footballer Steven
Appiah eventually started using. My friends
also used to call me ‘Nash’ after my single called
Jonny Nash”, He said.
You will be amazed but The “Afrafranto”
orchestrator was a shy guy whilst in school; “I
was even shy to approach girls”, He said. There
‘Kojo Antwi’
was one girl whom he had a crush on. So,
after mustering some courage and gathering
vim, He went in to make his move…But
boy, did it backfire! In the end she spilled the
whole thing to the class and even the whole
school heard about it. Everyone made fun of
our Music Man….Hmmm. If only she knew
his future, she would have jumped at the
opportunity. Lol
He reminisces about things that imparted his
personal life whiles in High School. “I had
