WH O WE AR E
Sage is much more than just a healthcare
manufacturing company
We are true innovators and have been that way from the very beginning. Vince Foglia and
Paul Hills founded Sage Products Inc. in 1971 with a vision. They took their backgrounds
in healthcare sales and set out to start a company that would develop and manufacture
innovative healthcare products that solve real problems in the healthcare industry.
From our very first product, an innovative Midstream Collection Kit, through our
pioneering Sharps Disposal Containers to the Interventional Patient Hygiene products we
market today, Sage has been focused on safety and prevention. Sage has had a passion for
prevention for over 40 years!
We've always been willing to invest in ideas and new product concepts that make an impact
on the lives of patients and clinicians. Our current products help prevent adverse
hospital-acquired events—specifically skin breakdown, pressure ulcers, surgical site
infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia and healthcare worker injury. We believe in
providing the highest quality products, backed by strong evidence and outcomes to prove
they work. This dedication to constantly improve is why we are a respected,
market-leading manufacturer.
We have evolved from our origins as a medical device manufacturer to a company that
produces cosmetics, over-the-counter drugs and pharmaceuticals for the entire care
continuum, domestically and internationally. Despite many changes in the industry and
our rapid growth, we remain focused on innovation, manufacturing expertise, and the
most responsive sales and service in the industry. Sage will always provide simple
interventions that yield extraordinary outcomes.
Clinical research & education
Sage invests heavily in clinical research. We partner with
clinical experts and top researchers to publish studies,
present at clinical symposia and engage in local speaking
events with the goal of advancing clinical practice and
building a foundation for education. We encourage all of
from their facilities.
Our website, www.sageproducts.com, provides full access
to a library of clinical information, which clinicians can
use to achieve their own prevention goals. The site
The Sage name is synonymous with quality
Our customers expect quality, and we go out of our way to deliver it.
From research and development to manufacturing to the final product, quality comes
first. Our exhaustive battery of tests and rigorous inspection processes ensure our
products meet and exceed the highest possible standards worldwide.
Our facility in Cary, Illinois, is a 600,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art testament to
quality. We are vertically integrated to control the manufacturing process from start
to finish. This enables us to control quality. For example, our cloth is woven, and
solutions are mixed and applied in house. Even the labels that seal our packages are
printed on site. Our machines incorporate integrated vision systems that inspect each
product as it’s made, maximizing efficiency and quality.
In the end, it’s exceptional people who make the process work. Our experienced
Manufacturing and Operations personnel–many who have been at Sage for 10 or
more years–take great pride and care in producing the highest quality product
available every time.
Environmentally sustainable
manufacturing practices
• Sustainable sourcing – Our largest raw goods
vendors provide us with cellulose fibers from
sustainable forest plantations in the United States.
• Local sourcing – We buy from local vendors
whenever possible, reducing the pollution and
energy used during transportation.
• Vertical integration – Most manufacturing
processes have been brought in house to reduce
energy consumption and shipping.
• Packaging reduction – Package and label sizes
have been reduced to decrease the amount of
materials and waste.
Products that make the difference
Sage is a true innovator. We pride ourselves in developing brand new concepts
and products that solve real problems in the healthcare industry.
Our New Product Development team starts with many ideas, narrows them
down to the best and turns them into clinically relevant products. We take a
hands-on approach to developing and improving our products, relying on direct
feedback from the clinicians who use them every day.
From the very beginning, Sage has been focused on prevention. Our products
help prevent adverse hospital-acquired events, including skin breakdown,
pressure ulcers, pneumonia, surgical site infections and healthcare worker injury.
These complications are costly to the healthcare system, and more importantly
they impact lives.
We are driven to identify opportunities to improve patient care, and we are
dedicated to developing simple interventions that yield extraordinary outcomes.
People–our number one resource
We have the very best people in the industry, and for that reason we will always be
successful in everything we do. Sage associates are difference makers, inside and
outside of the company. The pride and passion they exhibit is evident in our products,
our service and our community involvement.
With an average tenure of seven and a half years, it’s no secret that people want to
be here. A great family atmosphere and strong industry reputation are just some of
the reasons Sage has appeared multiple times on the list of the top 25 companies to
work for by the Great Place to Work Institute. Sage has also been ranked on Modern
Healthcare Magazine’s list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare.
A community focus
Sage has been blessed with rapid growth and success,
and it’s imperative we give back to our community.
From the top down, it’s something everybody
understands. Associate-organized fundraisers collect
thousands of dollars each year for various causes. And
Sage is extremely proud to match every dollar raised
during the company’s annual Giving Campaign, which
benefits many local charities.
So whether it’s funding a new healthcare endeavor or
sponsoring the girls’ softball team that wears the Sage
name on their uniforms, Sage continues to make the
difference in our community.
Sage associates participate in a truck pull fundraiser to
benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County.
Sage associates volunteer handyman services at the
Children’s Center for Autism’s Sage House.
