It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!!…<br />

… many Senior Citizens enjoyed a Holiday Breakfast at the<br />

High School!<br />

Saturday, December 4 th about 150 Senior<br />

Citizens came to the High School and was<br />

treated to breakfast. During the morning<br />

meal, the high school choirs provided<br />

holiday entertainment. It is one small way<br />

the school district can say thank you for<br />

your support.<br />

classes wowed the crowds with<br />

their Christmas program! They<br />

performed a number of songs and<br />

skits! There were renditions of Up<br />

on the Housetop, Oh Christmas<br />

Tree and Christmas Presents! A<br />

precious way to welcome the<br />

holidays!


Here We Come A-Caroling….!<br />

Here we come a-caroling Among the leaves so<br />

green,<br />

Here we come a wand'ring, So fair to be seen….<br />

In an effort to spread some holiday cheer, Broadway<br />

Elementary First Graders caroled through SpringMeade<br />

Retirement Community. This is their second year and is a First grade<br />

enrichment activity. Both the children and the residents loved the<br />

caroling.<br />

I Believe….<br />

The <strong>Tipp</strong> <strong>City</strong> Community Services sponsored Breakfast with Santa, Saturday,<br />

December 4 th at Broadway Elementary.<br />

Children and their parents stood in line to speak to Santa.<br />

The children also made reindeer food, crafted Christmas decorations, played<br />

Christmas Bingo and ate cookies and milk.<br />

<strong>Tipp</strong> Middle School STARSS Presented A<br />

Christmas Collection<br />

On December 7 th , <strong>Tipp</strong>ecanoe Middle School STARSS<br />

presented A Christmas Collection, a Reader’s Theatre<br />

written by the Semester 1 Creative Writing Class. The<br />

elves were taking a cocoa and cookie break at the North<br />

Pole while Santa and Mrs. Claus entertained them with<br />

stories. The featured stories were The Smallest Elf by<br />

Haley Miller, The Night before Christmas by Gabe<br />

Callicoat, Cookies for Christmas by Chloe Culpepper,<br />

The Ultimate Gift by Jordan McMahan, The Bittersweet<br />

Gift by Presley Cruz, and A Note from Santa by Erika<br />

Brownlee. Lane Vulkovic portrayed Santa, and Jasmine Fletcher was Mrs. Claus. Portraying elves and<br />

various other characters were Rachel Jenkins, Nikita Parks, Meghan Kauffmann, Lydia Guevara, Claire<br />

Heatherly, Nicole Lange, and Ashleigh Hood. Following the performance, the audience was treated<br />

with punch and cookies. All agreed that it was a wonderful way to spread some Holiday Cheer!<br />

Going along with the Nevin Coppock Elementary<br />

building theme of ―The Greatest Show on Earth‖ –<br />

―Giving our Best Performance Everyday‖; the students<br />

photographed gave their Best Performance and was<br />

selected to come to the November Ringmaster’s<br />

Breakfast.

The Broadway Elementary students pictured were chosen by their<br />

teachers for being very Trustworthy and were treated to breakfast.<br />

The L.T. Ball Intermediate School Fifth Graders<br />

Graduate from DARE!<br />

The first session of Fifth Graders have completed and graduated from<br />

the DARE Program that <strong>Tipp</strong> <strong>City</strong> Police, Dan Rittenhouse, teaches.<br />

Essay winners were Hannah Chaplin from Mrs. Oen’s class, Laura<br />

Fink from Mrs. Hanes room, Allyson Edwards from Mr. Mckinney’s<br />

class and Alissa Buynak from Mrs. McClurg’s class.<br />

50,000 Bonus Box Tops from Box Tops For Education!<br />

Toni McQuown looked at her Meijer’s register coupons and couldn’t believe what she saw.<br />

One of her register coupons was for 50,000 Bonus Box Tops from Box Tops For<br />

Education!<br />

The 50,000 bonus box tops equates to $5000 for the L.T. Parents Association.<br />

The Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive!<br />

Scholastic Book Clubs paired up with classrooms across the country to provide<br />

25,000 children in need with brand-new pajamas and books.<br />

L.T. Ball Fourth graders from Mrs. Brogan, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Paulet, Mrs. Ker,<br />

Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Rhodes’ classes donated seventy-seven brand new pairs of<br />

pajamas! For every pair of pajamas donated Scholastic Books will match it with a<br />

new book.<br />

The L.T. Ball students were able to share the gift of a good night’s sleep and a<br />

sweet bedtime story

Resident Artist, Chris Rowlands spent two weeks with the students at<br />

L.T. Ball. Last week Mr. Rowlands and the students wrote and<br />

recorded a song.<br />

This past week the students painted a mural. Pictured are students<br />

making ―upside down dots‖ for the mural!<br />

display, a Power Point<br />

presentation, prizes and<br />

then cookies and treats. It was an excellent opportunity to see the diversity of <strong>Tipp</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> on display!<br />

“Wear a Tie Day”<br />

In celebration of National Tie month the Octagon Club sponsored ―Wear a Tie Day‖. The high school<br />

student wore all kinds of ties; bow ties, holiday ties, ugly ties, polka dot ties, and ties for a cause. It was<br />

a tie-rific time!

The Middle School Bands and High School Band played Christmas music ranging from Jingle Bells to The Bells<br />

of Christmas. Even though it was a Holiday band concert, Mr. Parks and Ms. Howard chose to mix in a couple of<br />

non-holiday pieces for the crowd’s enjoyment. The instrumental sounds of Christmas certainly put everyone in<br />

attendance in the holiday mood.<br />

The High School Choir performed in the THS Center for the Performing Arts Thursday evening.<br />

The Symphonic Choir performed Handel’s ―Hallelujah Chorus‖ and many faculty and choir alumnus joined them<br />

on stage for the singing tradition!

The L.T. Ball Choir along with the Middle School Choirs gave great Holiday performances to a packed crowd<br />

Thursday night! The crowd was tapping to the Christmas tunes and left full of Holiday Cheer!<br />

Brutus Buckeye and Two OSU Cheerleaders visited Broadway Elementary!<br />

If Broadway Elementary students read 3500 books in<br />

November, Brutus Buckeye and two OSU Cheerleaders said<br />

they would make a visit. To insure they would get the visit<br />

they read 8760!<br />

Brutus and the OSU Cheerleaders came and read “Hello<br />

Brutus” to the students! And Brutus stood on his head!<br />

Congratulations Broadway Elementary readers!


<strong>Tipp</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> will receive $25,000 during the next four years for a total of $100,000 awarded<br />

through the Race to the Top grant.<br />

Dollars will be used to cover the cost of :<br />

1. Support for increasing graduation rate within our district<br />

2. Standards and assessment- alignment of curriculum to new State Standards (substitute teacher<br />

coverage for Curriculum Committee)<br />

3. Using data to improve instruction:<br />

a. Time to meet as teams to study data (substitute teacher coverage)<br />

b. Consideration of dollars will be used toward a data tool, and professional development to<br />

learn how to effectively use data tool.<br />

c. Teachers and leaders—peer coaching/peer observation, training for Ohio Principal Evaluation and<br />

Ohio Residency Mentor Program (substitute teacher coverage and registration fees for training)<br />

Boys Basketball will play at HOME this Friday, December 10 against CBC Rival,<br />

Tecumseh. Game time is 7:30. CBC Policy is that all tickets are $6.00 at the gate for<br />

boys’ basketball games – both home and away. Students can purchase $4.00 presale<br />

tickets at Clark’s, The Booster Fan Store and the High School Athletic Office. Please<br />

remember that <strong>Tipp</strong>ecanoe receives 100% of all basketball presale revenue and ZERO at<br />

an away game. Purchase your student presale tickets in advance – this is all students<br />

grades 1 thru 12!!!<br />

During halftime State Qualifying Girls Cross Country Team and our Girls Cross Country<br />

State Champion – Katie Landwehr will be recognized.<br />

Friday will also be the Parents Who Care Chili Supper!!! Warm up with some great Chili!!!!!<br />

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF OUR WINTER RED DEVIL TEAMS!!!!!<br />

and hear your encouragement. If you’re a sports pass holder, please do not forget to bring your pass to<br />
