Superintendent’s Message
John P. Kronour, PhD.
On behalf of the staff and students of Tipp City Exempted Village Schools, I want to extend
my gratitude and thanks to our terrific volunteers. Without a doubt, these dedicated people
contribute to our excellence in countless ways and enrich the learning experiences for our
students. We are fortunate to have parents, grandparents, retired teachers and community
members who generously donate their time and talents to our district. Our volunteers help in
the classroom, tutor students, organize special events, assist with clerical duties, and
chaperone field trips. Volunteers are busy at our concession stands, athletic events, and
behind the scenes of our musical and theatrical programs. These are just a few of the ways
these volunteers are valuable assets to our district and community. Thank you for making
education a priority and being a partner with Tipp City Schools!
Congratulations to members of the Class of 2013 who received thousands of dollars in local scholarships and
special awards during an end-of-the-year ceremony. The annual tradition celebrates the successes and
accomplishments of the senior class. Look for a special edition of Quick News on Friday, May 31 st with photos
continue to help students with disabilities and students not on track to become proficient readers.” This year the
local effort included 86 mentors and 65 students in all grades. The results are nothing short of AMAZING. Some
students increased their reading aptitude by five levels.
It was curtain time last week for Mrs. Sowder’s
first grade class at Nevin Coppock Elementary
School. The talented students sang and performed
the story of the Wee Red Pirate for a very
appreciative audience of family and friends!
Tipp City tradition from the THS English Department
One of the joys of teaching seniors is getting to hand back the writing folders that hold a collection of writings
from K-12. Students thoroughly enjoy looking back at how far they’ve come in 13 short years. They spend class
laughing over the silly things they wrote about, sharing stories about friends that moved away, and remembering
the “cool” things they did in X, Y, or Z’s class. It is a very entertaining, yet affirming day, as the students realize
the great strides they’ve made as students and as people. It is a portfolio they will keep and look back on fondly
over the years (yes, teachers Ian Porto and Brenda Mahaney still have theirs from their time in Tipp City Schools
). It is such a great Tipp City tradition, one of the many reasons that makes living and working here so great! In
the top left photo seniors Jessica Williams, Hannah Jay, and Seth Taylor share a laugh and memory. In the photo
on the right, smiling seniors proudly hold their portfolios. Keep writing!
by accumulating AR points in reading. This
tradition dates back to 2003. Yes, the walls
are full and colorful!
