Experience Vintage Shaoxing English Guidebook
The Shaoxing Tourism Commission (STC), in
collaboration with Belle Tourism International
Consulting (BTI), have published a ground-breaking
new book entitled, Experience Vintage Shaoxing: A
Guidebook for Travelers. STC sponsored the
preparation of this independently-composed, richlydetailed,
English guidebook in December 2009. BTI,
leading experts on China inbound tourism marketing,
were asked to research, write, and publish the book.
Experience Vintage Shaoxing: A
Guidebook for Travelers is a
completely new concept of how a
guidebook is written.
Whereas most generic guidebooks
are written by first-time travelers to a
destination and focus on the logistics
and attractions, the Shaoxing
guidebook is completely different.
30 experiences ……
Most guidebooks are
developed with a one-sizefits-all
approach. BTI,
using leading academics
and a UNWTO expert,
have looked again at what
is important at the most
basic level – the
experience!
…… not just sightseeing!

Other more famous guidebooks tend to
focus on word counts and indexes. While
that may be attractive to a researcher,
visitors have perhaps a week in one area
to experience the destination, not read
about it. This guidebook, at 428 pages, is
not short or wanting in detail, but it is
focused on being an attractive guide, and
keepsake, for all ages.
