8. In the case that a student is required to repeat a course or take another course as a substitute, the <br />

credit (s) of such a course will be accumulated only once.<br />

9. A student who misses an examination due to an uncontrollable cause must immediately submit evidence <br />

stating the cause of his/her obstacle to the instructor and his/her advisor for initial consideration. If the <br />

matter is deemed adequate and approved by the instructor, the instructor and the advisor will submit the <br />

matter to obtain the director’s approval for arranging an appropriate process in accordance with the SIIT <br />

Examination Regulations for SIIT students.<br />

10. The maximum time limit to complete a bachelor’s degree is 7 years.<br />

Warning and Probation Status<br />

<br />

1. The Institute will evaluate the status of each student based on his/her academic performance at the end <br />

of every semester. Each student must maintain CGPA of at least 2.00. Otherwise, he/she will be issued <br />

a “warning 1,” “warning 2,” or “probation” status in the following semester, wherever appropriate. Grades <br />

of the summer session are considered as a part of the second semester’s grades. However, for students <br />

who are dismissed at the completion of the second semester, their registration of the following summer <br />

session will be void.<br />

2. At the end of the first two semesters of his/her undergraduate study, the student must possess a CGPA of <br />

at least 1.50. Otherwise he/she will be dismissed from the Institute.<br />

3. A “warning 1” status will be issued in the following semester if the CGPA falls below 2.00 for the first time. <br />

A “warning 2” status is issued in the following semester if a student is under the “warning 1” status and <br />

still cannot improve the CGPA to 2.00 or above.<br />

4. If a student has a “warning 2” status and still possesses a CGPA below 2.00, he/she will be issued a <br />

“probation” status in the following semester which will be recorded in the student’s academic record.<br />

5. A student under the “probation” status must improve his/her CGPA to 2.00 or above by the end of that <br />

semester. Otherwise, he/she will be dismissed from the Institute.<br />

6. If a student has completed all the courses required by the curriculum but his/her CGPA is below 2.00 but <br />

not less than 1.80, then he/she is allowed to continue taking courses for no more than 3 semesters <br />

(subject to a total time limit of 7 years for the entire enrollment) to improve the CGPA to 2.00 or above.<br />

Class Attendance<br />

<br />

Students are required to attend a class for not less than 70 percent of the total class periods throughout a<br />

semester. If the attendance is less than 70 percent, he/she may not be allowed to take the final examination<br />

of that course.<br />

Transfer Students <br />

A student may be admitted as a transfer student if he/she has previously enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree<br />

program. The total number of transfer credits cannot exceed half of the total number of credits required by<br />

the SIIT program.<br />

A request for transferring credits must be done within the first registered semester. No transfer credits can be<br />

granted if the student has been dismissed from an institution.<br />

Application for Graduation<br />

<br />

1. To qualify for graduation, a student must fulfill the course requirements of the curriculum with a minimum <br />

CGPA of 2.00, and demonstrate his/her English proficiency with:<br />

• a paper-based TOEFL score of at least 500 (or 173 for computer-based test or 61 for Internet-based <br />

test or 500 for Institutional TOEFL), or <br />

• IELTS of at least 5.5, or <br />

• TUGET of at least 500, or <br />

• TOEIC of at least 650, or <br />

• First Certificate in the English (FCE) in Cambridge ESOL Exam, or <br />

• Level B2, Grade “B” in the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), or<br />

• Grade “S” in GTS401 Intensive English Proficiency.<br />

In addition, the student must have been enrolled for no fewer than 7 regular semesters, except for transfer<br />

students.<br />
