5. Students are not permitted to remain in the library after the service hours. For more details, consult the <br />

librarian for the semester service hours.<br />

6. As a deterrent measure, violators will not be entitled to receive any services from the library throughout <br />

the current semester.<br />

7. In the case that students do not return a book within the due date and do not pay the fine for overdue <br />

books, they will not be allowed to check out any additional books or register in the following semester.<br />

Academic Performance<br />

<br />

1. The academic performance of students is evaluated using the grade point average (GPA) system. The <br />

following grades are used:<br />

In some courses, such as practical training, an S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) grade is given. These <br />

grades have no point values. Since these courses, though required, normally have no credits, they shall <br />

not be included in the calculation of a semester and cumulative grade point averages (CGPA).<br />

An “I” grade may be temporarily given for courses where coursework evaluations have not been <br />

completed and it is not the student’s fault. Issuance of this grade is very rare and must be based on <br />

circumstances that are beyond the control of the involved student. <br />

The student with an “I” grade must be evaluated by the course instructor within 80 days after the <br />

semester ends. If a complete evaluation requirement is not possible, the instructor must grade the <br />

student’s performance based on his/her available scores obtained from previous evaluation assignments <br />

of the course. Beyond the 80-day period, if no grade is given by the instructor, the grade must be <br />

considered by the institute. In any case, the “I” grade must be removed within 90 days after the semester <br />

ends, otherwise a “W” grade is given.<br />

Course withdrawals after the first two weeks but still within the first ten weeks are given a W grade. No <br />

withdrawals are permitted after ten weeks of a regular semester, except under special circumstances. <br />

2. A placement test of some courses can be substituted for a regular evaluation. A student whose placement <br />

test result is “Accredit” will earn the credits without having to study such a course, and his/her academic <br />

record will bear “ACC,” which carries no grade point and will not be used in the calculation of a GPA.<br />

3. A student may retake a course in which he/she received a grade of D or D+. All the grades received in the <br />

same subject will be used for the calculation of the cumulative grade point average, but the credits will be <br />

earned only once. <br />

4. An F grade will be counted as zero points and the course credits will be used for the calculation of both <br />

the semester and the cumulative grade point averages.<br />

5. A compulsory course with either an F or a U grade must be retaken until a passing grade is obtained.<br />

6. A student may choose to retake an elective course with either an F or a U grade or to take another course <br />

instead.<br />

7. Only courses that are given at least a D grade or an S grade or “ACC” are counted towards earned credit <br />

accumulation.<br />
