The Youth <strong>in</strong> Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards) aims to highlight the issues, successes<br />

<strong>and</strong> challenges faced by young people <strong>in</strong> <strong>agriculture</strong> <strong>and</strong> to encourage the production of <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

<strong>and</strong> the use of <strong>ICT</strong>s by young farmers’ groups <strong>and</strong> organizations <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> the topic.<br />

other develop<strong>in</strong>g countries. She also writes about<br />

Sourou H A Nankpan<br />

Biotechnology graduate, Sourou (27), is passionate<br />

about <strong>agriculture</strong> <strong>and</strong> food production. His<br />

blog, Agro-Bén<strong>in</strong>, presents <strong>and</strong> discusses the<br />

impacts of rural migration on <strong>agriculture</strong>, the<br />

consequences of climate warm<strong>in</strong>g, government<br />

projects, challenges fac<strong>in</strong>g food security <strong>and</strong><br />

other issues <strong>in</strong> Ben<strong>in</strong>.<br />

3rd prize:<br />

In his blog, The Young Agropreneur, Anthony<br />

(24) shares his experiences as a young agricultural<br />

entrepreneur. He describes his blog as ‘a<br />

resource for <strong>in</strong>formation on matters concern<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>agriculture</strong> <strong>in</strong> Kenya <strong>and</strong> the Eastern African<br />

region’; it is also ‘a wake-up call for the youth to<br />

venture <strong>in</strong>to <strong>agriculture</strong>’.<br />

INSTITUTIONAL CATEGORY<br />

W<strong>in</strong>ners <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>stitutional category were<br />

selected per ACP region. Based on the submissions<br />

received, <strong>in</strong>stitutional blogs from three<br />

regions - Eastern Africa, Caribbean <strong>and</strong> West<br />

Africa - were eligible.<br />

on technologies which can positively impact agridevelopment<br />

at all levels. Technologies range from<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>ICT</strong>s, renewable energy production,<br />

water management etc.<br />

association from Madagascar. The creation<br />

at the University of Antananarivo. The blog is an<br />
