planning to cover the game. There is somewhat limited space at the press table<br />

(although we usually squeeze everyone in), and precedence will be given in the<br />

following order: Daily local game story writers, daily local columnists/side-bar<br />

writers, school paper writer (only one will be allowed on the table -- provided<br />

there is space) and electronic media not broadcasting the game live.<br />

Whether there is space at the table or not, Marauder Sports Information provides<br />

all necessary services for writing and filing stories, including complete<br />

internet access. You will also have a place to write and file your stories after<br />

the game.<br />

It was announced by the Foothill Conference that the third place Marauders’<br />

Da’Shawn Gomez (PG, 6-2, 180, SO, Inglewood (Inglewood ‘09) and Jason<br />

Johnson (G, 6-3, 180, SO, Reseda (Cleveland ‘10) were named First team All-<br />

Foothill Conference. Vadal Faniel (F/C, 6-6, 205, FR, Palmdale (Pete Knight<br />

‘10) and Michaelyn Scott (G, 6-2, 170, FR, Los Angeles (Washington Prep<br />

‘11) were named honorable mention.<br />

Gomenz was named to the All-Foothill Conference team for the second year,<br />

Gomez was second in scoring and three pointers for the Marauders, and averaged<br />

5.3 assists on the season. He was also second in scoring and threes for<br />

AVC in conference play.<br />

Johnson, who was honorable mention last season, led the Marauders in scoring<br />

with a 15.3 points per game average, which included a 30 point game against<br />

Ventura. He was also tops in three pointers. He also led AVC in conference with<br />

a 13.4 ppg.<br />

HONORABLE MENTION - Vadal Faniel played most of his best games in<br />

conference, with all three of his Marauder leading scoring efforts and three of<br />

his four rebounding highs coming during conference play. He averaged 8.3 ppg<br />

during the season, and upped that to 10.5 in conference play. He also leads AVC<br />

shooting 55.2 percent from the field. Michaelynn Scott shot 48.6 percent from<br />

three pointer territory during conference play.<br />

JOHN TAYLOR:<br />

John Taylor is in his second season as the Marauder head coach, and is in his<br />

second playoffs with the team. He is 41-17 (.707) as the Marauders’ men’s<br />

coach He began the 2010-11 season as both men’s and women’s coach. His<br />

women Marauder teams were 241-103 overall and included six Foothill Conference<br />

championships - four straight from 2003 to 2006 and this season. AVC<br />

finished second in the Foothill Conference in his first two seasons, before 2002-<br />

03's undefeated in conference champion team and again this season. He guided<br />

AVC to ten straight seasons of 19 wins or more and the playoffs each year. In<br />

2006-07 he became the winningest Marauder women's basketball coach with<br />

win 143 and in 2007-08 season coached the Marauders to his 100th Foothill<br />

Conference win. He has crafted a 426-213 (.667) record overall, and his teams<br />

now play in the playoffs for the 17th straight season. Taylor was named WSC<br />

women's Coach of the Year in 1995-96, and was tabbed as the Foothill Conference<br />

women's Coach of the Year in 2002-03 and 2003-04.<br />

ELSEWHERE IN The Foothill Conference put four teams in the playoff this season, but only two<br />

CONFERENCE: made it out of the first week of playoffs. No. 3 Mt. San Jacinto lost to No. 19<br />

Riverside in overtime 79-76. No. 4. San Bernardino <strong>Valley</strong> beat No. 13 LA<br />

<strong>Valley</strong> 87-76 and will host No. 12 Ventura on Wednesday. No. 8 Chaffey lost<br />

to No. 9 Cuesta 74-68.<br />
