The Marauders got to the third round by virtue of a 69-57 win over Irvine Valley, and get to host because
of El Camino’s 57-56 upset of No. 2 Mt. San Antonio on Saturday. The Warriors beat Santa Monica 82-77
in the first round to advance against the Mounties. SOUTH The winner of this game will play the winner of No. 6
Saddleback and No. 19 Riverside for the right to go to state. The last time the two met was in the championship
game of the Glendale Tournament 1. - Citrus won by the Warriors - 92 in 2008. In the six meetings, the squads
have always 16. met Hancock on a neutral court. 72 Sat. 1. Citrus (26-1)
17. Imperial Valley 78
The 2011-12 Marauder team is one that can handle anyone. And can be handled by anyone. Of their seven
losses, three 17. are at Imperial the hands Valley of teams 79not near .500 in the standings - the other four to No.1 Citrus, No. 3
Mt. San Jacinto and No. 4 San Bernardino 9. Valley Cuesta twice. And then 74they beat No. 3 Mt. San Jacinto twice,
No. 6. Saddleback, No. 8 Chaffey twice, No. 11 San Diego Fri. City, No. 129. Ventura Cuesta twice, (24-7) No. 13 LA Valley,
No. 19 Riverside twice and No. 20 Canyons. 8. Chaffey Led in scoring by Jason 68 Johnson and overall on the court
Fri. 12. Ventura (19-11)
AVC has not faced anyone they might meet 12. in Ventura their bracket this year. 80
20. Canyons 61
Well, AVC isn’t 13th like they had been 13. for the LA last Valley three years. In 76fact, the Marauders have their best seed
since 2004, when AVC was second. Actually, AVC pulled the fifth seed, but because of rules preventing
conference teams
13. LA
in the
Valley
same bracket,
75
the Marauders Sat. had to settle for seventh.
4. San Bernardino
But seeing as
Valley
this team
(24-5)
was
on a three game losing streak just three games 4. San ago, Bernardino that they Val hosted 87the second round is a testament to the
strength of the Foothill Conference. “How strong is it?” I hear you ask. Well, four teams are in the playoffs
representing 14. LA the conference, Harbor and 55all four are in the top eight seeds, and therefore hosting the second
round.
19. Riverside 79 OT
