Located about 60 miles northeast
of Los Angeles, the Antelope Valley
sprawls over 1000 square miles of
the part of the Mojave that is called
the “High Desert,” and is home to
over 350,000 people.
The Antelope Valley
The Antelope Valley is also
the home of the Space Shuttle,
SR-71, F117, B1 and B2 airplanes,
the Lockheed “Skunkworks” and
Edwards Air Force Base, home of
the first supersonic flight, and various
other aeronautical firsts and
records, as partially chronicled in
“The Right Stuff”; a major aviation
research and testing center.
It is also home of the California
Poppy Reserve, where the City of
Lancaster celebrates its Poppy
Festival every April, and the highly
eclectic and eccentric, yet fascinating
AV Indian Museum.
In recent years the Antelope Valley
has become a major “location”
shooting area for major motion
pictures and television shows, including
The Terminator and Lethal
Weapon series of movies and Star
Trek television series.
development by the athlete. We are extremely pleased by the
academic achievements of our athletes,” says AVC Athletic
Director Newton Chelette.
