The Marauder Sports<br />
Information Office enters its 23rd year in<br />
providing the media covering <strong>Antelope</strong><br />
<strong>Valley</strong> <strong>College</strong> Marauder Athletics with<br />
the best possible information.<br />
The office, headed by the Sports<br />
Information Director, Glenn Haller,<br />
is responsible for acting as a liaison<br />
between AVC’s athletic department and<br />
the media, compiling and maintaining<br />
statistics, as well as producing brochures<br />
and updating the web site for the<br />
department.<br />
In 2006 he was honored by the California<br />
Community <strong>College</strong> Sports Information<br />
Association (CCCSIA) as their BRASS<br />
TOP Award winner. BRASS TOP stands<br />
for “Bringing Respect And Superior Service To Our Profession” and is<br />
given annually to an individual who has made a positive impact in the<br />
field of sports information and through their work advances the cause of<br />
the community college sports information professional.<br />
In 2007 he received the Scoop Hudgins Outstanding SID Award<br />
by the All-American Football Foundation. The award is given by the<br />
Foundation to those who excel in their efforts to promote the game of<br />
football.<br />
He finished his tenure in 2005 as the Past-President of the CCCSIA,<br />
having served a two- year term as President which began August 2001,<br />
and was the first Secretary-Publicist for the organization.<br />
He is also a member of the <strong>College</strong> Sports Information Directors<br />
Association, which recognized his 1991 Volleyball <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> as the<br />
second best in the nation. His 1995-96 men’s basketball program was<br />
named second in the state by the California Community <strong>College</strong> Public<br />
Relations Organization.<br />
In 2002, the office, in conjunction with the <strong>Antelope</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
Department of Government and Public Relations, received a Bronze<br />
Paragon Award for Sports Brochure. This national award is given by the<br />
National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The two offices<br />
also shared a first place in Sports Release awarded by CCPRO.<br />
In early 2000 he was listed 16th on the Top 20 People Who Shaped<br />
AVC Athletics list compiled by the <strong>Antelope</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> Press.<br />
Haller became a permanent member of the AVC faculty in early<br />
2000, and has been granted tenure and the academic title of “professor”<br />
as well.<br />
Prior to coming to AVC, Haller headed the <strong>Media</strong> Relations<br />
Department for the Fresno Flames, a professional basketball team in the<br />
World Basketball League.<br />
Haller began work in the sports information field as a student<br />
assistant at Fresno State, a position which culminated with him being<br />
named as Director of Tournament Information for the 1983 NCAA Golf<br />
Championships. In 1984, he was named Sports Information Director for<br />
California Bowl IV.<br />
Haller attended Wm. S. Hart High School and received his bachelor’s<br />
in journalism (public relations option) in 1983 from Fresno State, in<br />
addition to his master’s in physical education (athletic administration<br />
emphasis) from that same school in 1989. He received his juris doctor<br />
in June of 1998 from<br />
the Ridgecrest School of<br />
Law.<br />

his wife Rebecca, and<br />

A fourth generation Mason, he is currently Master for Old West Lodge<br />
#813 and is a member of Palmdale #697.<br />
He has two sons, Austin (23) who is an Eagle Scout received his bachelor’s<br />
of science degree in geological engineering from Colorado School<br />
of Mines and is working as a geologist in Colorado and Joseph (20) who<br />
played football for Sand Creek High School in Colorado Springs, setting<br />
a school record for fumble recoveries and played with the Marauders<br />
in 2010 before entering the Army, and a stepson Everett (25), who is<br />
embarking in a career in commercial real property.
