The P.U.R.E. System
Precision UnResolved-materials Extraction
P.U.R.E. is a unique molecular cleaning method developed by Aaren Scientific to remove materials and
extraneous processing materials found in hydrophilic lenses that are not fully polymerized. Aaren lenses
that go through the P.U.R.E. System have enduring optical clarity and enhanced biocompatibility. ALL
Aaren hydrophilic acrylic lenses are being treated with this proprietary system. Purity is verified by routine
use of high sensitivity mass spectrometry (MS) chemical analysis.
Over 1,000,000 P.U.R.E. lenses sold.
Benefits of Heparin Surface Modification
• Reduces postoperative inflammatory responses in the early postoperative period.**
• Results in reduced foreign-body reactions as measured by specular microscopy and slit-lamp
examination, especially in the early postoperative period.**
• Appears to be a valuable tool to decrease implant-associated bacterial endophthalmitis.**
• HSM posterior IOLs result in less cellular response observed one year after extra-capsular
cataract extraction.**
• Patients who are diabetic or have glaucoma can definitely benefit from an HSM acrylic IOL
compared to a non-HSM PMMA IOL, according to a multi-center study.**
Introducing and Aspheric Lenses...
Traditional spherical IOLs are subject to aberrations that result in slightly distorted images on the retina -
particularly at large pupil diameter. This is because light rays that enter the eye peripherally undergo stronger
refraction than those that enter centrally. One of the benefits of Aaren PAL aspheric lenses is improved
contrast sensitivity, especially in low
The optics of Aaren Scientific’s
Precision Aspheric Lenses (PAL)
are designed to compensate for
the aberrations of the human eye
to achieve exceptional optical
performance - even in instances of
naturally occurred IOL misalignment.
MTF (Modulation Transfer Function)
analysis shows the significantly
improved image quality of an Aaren
PAL hydrophilic lens to a typical
aspheric lens, under various degrees
of decentration and tilt. In addition,
the MTF of PAL is comparable to or
better than that of a spherical optic
under these same conditions.
