DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT STANMORE COMMENCEMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE Newington College is a boys' school of the Uniting Church in Australia, founded in 1863 and a member of the AAGPS of NSW. There are approximately 1900 boys across three campuses, with around 1250 boys at the Secondary School, including 50 boarders. The remaining boys attend the Preparatory Schools at either Wyvern House (Stanmore) or Lindfield. B. ROLE DESCRIPTION<br />

The Director of Development is responsible for:<br />

1. Leading and successfully implementing the philanthropic programmes and initiatives of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

2. Developing a positive engagement with all key stakeholders (Old Boys, Parents, Alumni, Staff, and Boys).<br />

3. Leadership of the Development Department team members and operations. This includes:<br />

a. Old <strong>Newington</strong>ians’ Union Officer – Old Boys activities<br />

b. Archivist and Archives Volunteers– Archives<br />

c. Development Officer – Development and Alumni activities<br />

4. Assessing the recent (2010-2013) campaign and implementing a new strategic plan for the immediate,<br />

medium and long term development goals. Areas may include:<br />

a. voluntary donations with fees<br />

b. annual appeal<br />

c. capital campaign – targeted or rolling<br />

d. bursaries<br />

e. bequests via the Founders Society<br />

f. growth of contributions from high net worth individuals<br />

g. AIS USA Foundation opportunities<br />

h. facility hire opportunities<br />

i. role of a Foundation Board and its members<br />

j. grant applications.<br />

5. Developing a strong stewardship program that regularly acknowledges and thanks all donors and<br />

contributors.<br />

6. Forging excellent working relationships with other key staff – this includes Headmaster, Heads of Campus<br />

(3), Head of Corporate Services, Manager of Finance, Director of Communications, Director of ICT, Deputy<br />

Heads of Campus and Head of Co-Curricular.<br />

C. THE EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN AND AIMS <strong>OF</strong> THE COLLEGE<br />

The Educational Strategic Plan for 2010-2014 and Annual Reports with updates and the Aims of the <strong>College</strong> are<br />

The Director of Development must positively represent the <strong>College</strong> to the wider community. It is expected that the<br />

Director will be knowledgeable and fully support the ethos, vision, goals and operations of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Ability to develop, maintain and manage key relationships; and gain respect and support at all levels.<br />

Ability to articulate an informed enthusiasm for the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Proficiency in database management for fundraising purposes and trend analysis.<br />

Proficiency with multitasking, researching and creative approaches to development activities.<br />

Ability to be persistent and goal orientated.<br />

Willing and able to do the “ask”.<br />
