O&O EventViewer Functions The O&O EventViewer allows you to identify error sources and problems. The O&O Event- Viewer itemizes all events that are logged by the system and applications. The events can be managed in application, security and system protocols. • To open O&O EventViewer, click on Start/Programs/AdministrativeTools and then EventViewer. Security protocol The security protocol contains events such as valid and invalid log-in attempts, as well as resource usage events, e.g. creation, opening or deletion of files. System protocol The system protocol contains events that are logged by the Windows system components, for example failed driver installations. Protocol features Information Date Time Description Source Category Event ID User Computer Definition Date the event occurred. Time the event occurred Description of event. The software that protocols the event is named as the source. It can be an application name or a system/program component, i.e. a driver name. Events are categorized according to source. The number which represents the respective event type. The first number of the description normally contains the event type name. The event ID and source assist service technicians in solving problems. Name of the user where the event occurred. Name of the computer where the event occurred.
