SUNRISE AND SNOWDROP
EXPRESS AUDAX 2013
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE
START AND FINISH LOCATION HAS CHANGED
Dear All,
At the beginning of January, I received the news that the café previously booked to host our start and finish
location on the Hartlebury Trading Estate had ceased trading. Whitlenge Gardens located one mile away have
come to our rescue. Before that, I resembled Corporal Jones shouting, “Don’t Panic, Don’t Panic”.
Catering
Lisa and I went to sample their cake and it is excellent. The café will open at 7.30am for anyone wishing to
purchase breakfasts or drinks. As per usual, successful audaxers will be provided with a voucher at the end of the
ride to purchase either tea and cake, or tea and beans/egg on toast. The café will close at 5.45pm.
Please bear with Whitlenge
This is the first time that Whitlenge have hosted a large scale event, so please be patient when it becomes busy.
They will be providing extra staff to cope with the anticipated demand.
Car parking
Based upon annual figures, we expect 120 vehicles but Whitlenge
Gardens only has capacity for 40. To relieve congestion, it would
be very helpful if you would please park and ride in the first
instance. Roadside parking is available between Hartlebury Station
and Hartlebury Village along Station Road, it is then a one mile ride
up Whitlenge Lane from Hartlebury Station to the HQ.
Car parking at the HQ is on a first come and first served basis only.
Any surplus traffic will be directed to Hartlebury Station. Please
accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. For GPS
users, Hartlebury Station is DY10 4HB. Whitlenge Lane is narrow
and ungritted. Car drivers using this lane will need to be wary of
cyclists.
The Garden Centre is shown as Whitlenge House on the map.
New Headquarters Location
Whitlenge Gardens, Nursery & Tea Rooms, Whitlenge Lane, Hartlebury, Worcestershire. DY10 4HD
Updates to GPS and routecards etc
If you have downloaded the BikeRouteToaster file on a previous date, please ensure that you now have the latest
version which starts from Whitlenge and not the Trading Estate.
Hopefully no more problems!
Philip Whiteman for the Beacon RCC.
