New State Champion!
Karlie Swanson from Bellingen High School is the new All Schools Cross
Country 16 years Age Champion. This
competition includes competitors from
Combined High Schools, Catholic
Schools and Independent High Schools
making her truly the best in the state.
This is a great achievement for Karlie
who has many accomplishments already
to her credit including a 1 st in her age
in the Gold Coast 10km run only a week earlier. Other outstanding
achievements in 2012 included 1 st in the CHS Cross Country and 2 nd in the
Australian Athletics Championships in the 3000m.
Karlie is certainly an athlete with a very successful past but even a bigger
future. These successes come from talent combined with a lot of hard work.
Her commitment to training is excellent and she has overcome some big
setbacks with injury and sickness. Karlie has not let this slow her down and
really deserves this absolutely outstanding result. Photo above shows Karlie
with her gold medal.
Three other competitors from Bellingen High School, Jacob Thorn, Katie
Thorn and Talissa Alford also competed at these Championships and performed
very well.
North Coast Athletics Championships
Eighteen students are representing Bellingen High School at the North Coast
Athletics Championships to be held at Kingscliff today. We look forward to
hearing their great results.
Futsal Championships
Northern NSW Futsal Championships is being held on Monday 12 th and
Tuesday 13 th August. Transport will be provided so students are looking to
organise this. The cost is $20.
