development process, H.E. Cavaliere
Philip Bonn in the presence of Dr. Ali
programmes that could benefit the young minds of the country in order to make them a
key-stakeholder in the modern development process not only of Iraq but of the world.
H.E. Cavaliere Philip Bonn also explored the possibilities to launch CISRI-ISP’s
affirmative action programme “Global Sports for Peace’ in the Republic Iraq at the
earliest. The initiative aims to use sports as potent tool towards peace and development.
Global Sports for Peace is guided by the Directives associated with the following
United Nations’ General Assembly Resolutions:
(60/8)-Building a Peaceful and Better World through Sport and the Olympic Ideal
(59/10)- Sports as a means to promote education, health, development and peace
by proclaiming the year ‘2005’ as ‘International Year of Sports and Physical
Education’
(55/2)- ‘The Millennium Declaration’ by the Heads of the Member States of the
United Nations, 8 th September 2000
(60/3)- Proclamation of the period ‘2001-2010’ as “The International Decade for a
Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World”
(1325) -Assuring women’s participation in peace-making and peace-building
(56/168)- Ad Hoc Committee for a comprehensive and integral international
convention to promote and protect the rights and dignity of persons with
disabilities
Global Sports for Peace hopes to be a catalyst in organizing, securing, implementing,
and assuring all stakeholders- Government, Private Sector, and Civil Society- contacts
