Preventive Maintenance 4. SECTION 4 – PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE 4.1. GENERAL This section describes preventive maintenance and testing for the Alstom Type AT Signals. If a fault is suspected as a result of this maintenance, the maintainer should refer to Section 5 for the proper signal troubleshooting procedure. Preventive maintenance procedures deal with inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance (PM) checks. PM checks are performed to ensure proper equipment operation based on specific tolerances. These checks identify and isolate possible malfunctions. Corrective maintenance, at the field service level, is intended to restore malfunctioning equipment to its normal operating condition as quickly as possible. Corrective maintenance procedures including component replacement, voltage adjustments, and wayside sighting are provided in Section 6. P2502, Rev. Apr/08 4–1 Alstom Signaling Inc.
