Guidelines <strong>to</strong> Knowledge Resume<br />
A Knowledge Resume is a document that shows details <strong>of</strong> your prior experience, skills<br />
and learning acquired from work or other activities. Candidates are required <strong>to</strong><br />
complete the Knowledge Resume in order <strong>to</strong> apply for the APEL credits. Your Knowledge<br />
Resume will be used <strong>to</strong> determine APEL potential for course credits that are listed in<br />
your programme. The purpose <strong>of</strong> the Knowledge Resume review is <strong>to</strong> find out if you<br />
have the potential <strong>of</strong> being a good APEL candidate.<br />
1. A completed Knowledge Resume should include the following items:<br />
A. Educational Background:<br />
i. Year – time frame <strong>of</strong> schooling<br />
ii. Level – level <strong>of</strong> achievement<br />
iii. Grade – grade obtained<br />
iv. School – name <strong>of</strong> school attended<br />
B. Work Experience :<br />
i. Year / Duration – time frame <strong>of</strong> work experience<br />
ii. Position – post held in the organisation<br />
iii. Employer – the name <strong>of</strong> the individual or organization with whom<br />
you have worked<br />
iv. Job Responsibilities – key responsibilities under the job position<br />
v. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from the work<br />
experience<br />
C. Involvement in Project/Task:<br />
i. Year – time frame in completing the project<br />
ii. Name <strong>of</strong> Clients – individual / organisation who received the service<br />
iii. Project – types <strong>of</strong> project accomplished<br />
iv. Responsibilities – key responsibilities in completing the project<br />

D. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Attended:<br />
i. Year – the year the workshop/seminar/course/training was<br />
attended<br />
ii. Workshop/Seminar/Course/Training Attended – name the<br />
workshop/seminar/course/training and describe briefly what it was<br />
all about<br />
iii. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from attending the<br />
workshop/seminar/course/training<br />
E. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Conducted:<br />
i. Year – the year the workshop/seminar/course/training was<br />
conducted<br />
ii. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Conducted – name the<br />
workshop/seminar/course/training and describe briefly what it was<br />
all about<br />
iii. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from conducting<br />
the workshop/seminar/course/training<br />
F. Consultancies:<br />
i. Year – the year the consultancy service(s) was rendered<br />
ii. Scope – a brief description <strong>of</strong> the consultancy service<br />
iii. Name <strong>of</strong> Client – individual / organisation that received the service<br />
G. Publication / E-publication<br />
i. Year – the year <strong>of</strong> publication<br />
ii. Journal/Book/Etc. – title <strong>of</strong> the journal or book that was published<br />
iii. Title <strong>of</strong> Publication – title <strong>of</strong> the article, chapter or book that was<br />
published<br />
H. Community/Volunteer Service:<br />
i. Year – the year the community/volunteer service was rendered<br />
ii. Type <strong>of</strong> Community/Volunteer Service Rendered – describe briefly<br />
the community/volunteer service<br />
iii. What did you learn? describe what was learnt from the service<br />
experience<br />

I. Sport /Recreation /Hobby :<br />
i. Year – the year/ time frame <strong>of</strong> participation in the sport/ recreation<br />
/ hobby<br />
ii. Sport / Recreation / Hobby – brief description <strong>of</strong> the type <strong>of</strong> sport /<br />
recreation / hobby<br />
J. Skills:<br />
i. Type <strong>of</strong> Skills – skills acquired<br />
ii. Remarks – brief description <strong>of</strong> the skill<br />
K. <strong>Learning</strong> Acquired Through Reading:<br />
i. Book title – title <strong>of</strong> the book that was read<br />
ii. What did you learn? – brief explanation <strong>of</strong> what was learnt from<br />
reading the book<br />
L. Describe how your prior learning may be relevant <strong>to</strong> the APEL course you<br />
intend <strong>to</strong> apply for:<br />
i. Relate your work experience and prior learning relevant <strong>to</strong> the<br />
learning outcomes <strong>of</strong> the course. Briefly explain why you deserve <strong>to</strong><br />
be awarded with APEL credits for this course.<br />
M. Reference:<br />
i. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional acquaintances that know you and are willing <strong>to</strong> verify<br />
or provide additional information about you. Ask for permission<br />
before including their details here.<br />
2. You may omit items that are not relevant <strong>to</strong> you in your Knowledge Resume.<br />
However, items L and M are manda<strong>to</strong>ry and must be filled.<br />
