Guidelines to Knowledge Resume
A Knowledge Resume is a document that shows details of your prior experience, skills
and learning acquired from work or other activities. Candidates are required to
complete the Knowledge Resume in order to apply for the APEL credits. Your Knowledge
Resume will be used to determine APEL potential for course credits that are listed in
your programme. The purpose of the Knowledge Resume review is to find out if you
have the potential of being a good APEL candidate.
1. A completed Knowledge Resume should include the following items:
A. Educational Background:
i. Year – time frame of schooling
ii. Level – level of achievement
iii. Grade – grade obtained
iv. School – name of school attended
B. Work Experience :
i. Year / Duration – time frame of work experience
ii. Position – post held in the organisation
iii. Employer – the name of the individual or organization with whom
you have worked
iv. Job Responsibilities – key responsibilities under the job position
v. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from the work
experience
C. Involvement in Project/Task:
i. Year – time frame in completing the project
ii. Name of Clients – individual / organisation who received the service
iii. Project – types of project accomplished
iv. Responsibilities – key responsibilities in completing the project

D. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Attended:
i. Year – the year the workshop/seminar/course/training was
attended
ii. Workshop/Seminar/Course/Training Attended – name the
workshop/seminar/course/training and describe briefly what it was
all about
iii. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from attending the
workshop/seminar/course/training
E. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Conducted:
i. Year – the year the workshop/seminar/course/training was
conducted
ii. Workshop/Seminar /Course/Training Conducted – name the
workshop/seminar/course/training and describe briefly what it was
all about
iii. What did you learn? – describe what was learnt from conducting
the workshop/seminar/course/training
F. Consultancies:
i. Year – the year the consultancy service(s) was rendered
ii. Scope – a brief description of the consultancy service
iii. Name of Client – individual / organisation that received the service
G. Publication / E-publication
i. Year – the year of publication
ii. Journal/Book/Etc. – title of the journal or book that was published
iii. Title of Publication – title of the article, chapter or book that was
published
H. Community/Volunteer Service:
i. Year – the year the community/volunteer service was rendered
ii. Type of Community/Volunteer Service Rendered – describe briefly
the community/volunteer service
iii. What did you learn? describe what was learnt from the service
experience

I. Sport /Recreation /Hobby :
i. Year – the year/ time frame of participation in the sport/ recreation
/ hobby
ii. Sport / Recreation / Hobby – brief description of the type of sport /
recreation / hobby
J. Skills:
i. Type of Skills – skills acquired
ii. Remarks – brief description of the skill
K. Learning Acquired Through Reading:
i. Book title – title of the book that was read
ii. What did you learn? – brief explanation of what was learnt from
reading the book
L. Describe how your prior learning may be relevant to the APEL course you
intend to apply for:
i. Relate your work experience and prior learning relevant to the
learning outcomes of the course. Briefly explain why you deserve to
be awarded with APEL credits for this course.
M. Reference:
i. Professional acquaintances that know you and are willing to verify
or provide additional information about you. Ask for permission
before including their details here.
2. You may omit items that are not relevant to you in your Knowledge Resume.
However, items L and M are mandatory and must be filled.
