ENROLMENT<br />

You can enrol for any day or evening course at the dates/times stated below.<br />

5 December 12noon-7pm, 6-14 December (Mon-Fri) 10am-3pm at: Reception, Skelmersdale Campus,<br />

College Way, Skelmersdale, WN8 6DX (Sat Nav postcode WN8 6LH).<br />

TELEPHONE ENROLMENTS<br />

Telephone enrolments will take place from 5-14 December 2012, 10am - 3pm, Monday-Friday.<br />

Telephone enrolments are available for those part-time learners who are NOT eligible for fee reduction (eg full fee<br />

payers only). Courses marked in the Course Guide with a (.<br />

You will need to use a credit or debit card to complete the payment and sign a college Learner Agreement at your<br />

first session in College.<br />

Please note: Courses offered by Lancashire County Council Adult Learning Service are for 19+ learners only.<br />

ACL Courses available with Lancashire Education Authority are only available to 19+ learners<br />

Those in receipt of active benefits may be eligible to pay a reduced fee of £5.<br />

WHAT DO I NEED TO PAY?<br />

Did you know that many of our full and part time courses are free or discounted?<br />

Fees for part time day and evening courses are listed in the brochure. However many people will be eligible for<br />

free or discounted study.<br />

Tuition is FREE for:<br />

• 16-18 year olds (other than courses marked with ACL)<br />

• Anyone aged 19-24 years studying a full time Entry Level/Level 1 Foundation Learning<br />

• Course and does not have a prior Level 2 qualification<br />

• Learners undertaking a First Full Level 2 qualification aged 19-23<br />

• Learners undertaking a First Full Level 3 qualification aged 19-24<br />

• Skills for Life (literacy or numeracy) courses<br />

• GCSE English & Maths where a learner does not currently hold a Grade C in these subjects<br />

• Those in receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance and Employment Support Allowance (work related activity groups)<br />

• Unemployed adults on other benefits (see Benefit Table on page 5) who are undertaking a course to improve<br />

their ability to gain employment<br />

• Those earning less than £21,000 per annum and studying a funded course (leading to a qualification)<br />

In addition DISCOUNTED tuition is available to:<br />

• Those 19 and over studying a second or subsequent Full Level 2 a £99 tuition fee is payable<br />

• Those 24 and over studying a first Full Level 2 qualification a £99 tuition fee is payable<br />

• Those 24 and over studying a first Full Level 3 qualification a £99 tuition fee is payable<br />

Please note - Exam and Registration Fees may be charged dependant on eligibility.<br />

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO ENROLMENT?<br />

16-18 Years<br />

Please bring your GCSE Results and proof of identification to complete your enrolment.<br />

19 Years and over<br />

If you are claiming FREE or discounted study and you are on an active or inactive benefit you will need to bring<br />

proof with you in order to complete your enrolment, please see list of accepted evidence opposite:<br />

LEARNERS BORN IN THE EU / EEA<br />

For those Learners born in the EU / EEA please provide proof that you were born in the EU (passport,<br />

birth certificate etc.)<br />

IDENTIFICATION<br />

The Learning Records Service requires learners to verify their identity at enrolment, therefore when enrolling for<br />

your course you will need to bring original copies of one of the following documents with you. If you enrol over the<br />

phone, you will be required to bring this identification with you to collect your ID card before you start your course:<br />

• Passport<br />

• Photo Driving Licence<br />

• Armed Forces Service ID<br />

• National Insurance Card<br />

• Certificate of Entitlement to Funding<br />

• Bank Credit/Debit Card<br />

• Your West Lancashire College Student ID Card<br />

ADDITIONAL COSTS - UNIFORMS, KITS AND MATERIALS<br />

Some courses require you to purchase the appropriate kit, uniform or materials. You will be advised on how to<br />

order and costs prior to the start of the course.<br />

PAYING FOR YOUR COURSE<br />

Course fees are payable at enrolment. If the annual course fee payable by you is over £200, you may be able to<br />

pay by instalments** see table below (subject to agreement at enrolment).<br />

If your course fee is being paid by a third party (e.g employer) you will be given the appropriate documentation at<br />

enrolment. Call 01695 52300 and ask for the Learner Gateway to find out if you are eligible for assistance.<br />

£0 - £199 Full payment at enrolment<br />

£200 - £299 2 equal instalments including first payment at enrolment followed by one payment in the<br />

consecutive month.<br />

£300 - £599 3 equal instalments including first payment at enrolment followed by 2 consecutive<br />

monthly instalments.<br />

£600 or over 5 equal instalments including first payment at enrolment followed by 4 consecutive<br />

monthly instalments<br />

ENROLMENT ONTO A COURSE CANNOT BE CONFIRMED UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED.<br />

**If you wish to request instalment payments, you will be required to sign a Fee Payment Agreement at enrolment<br />

if these are agreed.
