IT MIGHT not even be Christmas yet
an art gallery is already working on
making 2013 a year for West
Lancashire culture vultures to look
forward to.
West Lancashire Borough Council,
which runs the Chapel Gallery in
Ormskirk, said it has just launched its
programme of exhibitions, activities
and events for the new year, starting
with the return of one of the venue’s
more popular draws.
Councillor David Sudworth, West
Lancashire Borough Council’s
portfolio holder for Leisure said: “Art
is for everyone to enjoy and I always
think the gallery does a wonderful job
of curating exhibitions and events
that provide something for all tastes
and accommodate all levels of
interest.
“If you have never visited the gallery
it is well worth giving it a second
thought as this line up for 2013 is truly
inspiring.”
The fun starts with the Youth Open
2012, a showcase of art from young
people across the borough, which is
already open and has attracted a host
of entries. This year’s exhibition,
which uses People & Places as its
theme, will be open at the gallery until
January 5.

Chapel Gallery aims to
please culture vultures
next year are Making It 2 and the West
Lancashire Open Exhibition 2013.
Making It, scheduled for 16 March –
27 April 2013, is an exhibition that
includes three artists in residence at
the Chapel Gallery, and throughout
the show visitors are able to witness
the artists produce their work as it
evolves from initial concept to final
piece. Meanwhile, the Open
Exhibition takes place between July
20 and September 14, and artists from
West Lancashire will be encouraged
to take part.

THE Liverpool Christmas Family
Festival together with a dazzling
panto, Sleeping Beauty, is taking
place at The Waterfront Big Top
at the Echo Arena, Liverpool in
December.
And the Champion has got five

Running for over three weeks
from Friday, December14 –
alongside Sleeping Beauty – the
Liverpool Christmas Family
Festival will host a wealth of
family entertainment on the City’s
Waterfront like never seen
before.
Situated on the Kings Dock site,
adjacent to the BT Convention
Centre and Echo Arena, the
Liverpool Christmas Family
Festival will transform the area
into a space full of sparkling
decorations and Christmas
delights all conveniently located
on one site. And the best news of
all... visitors to the pantomime
will receive free entrance to the
Festival.
The Festival will create an
enchanting and feel–good
atmosphere with carol singers,
traditional organ music and an
abundance of twinkling lights to
dazzle kids and families alike.
Businesses warned after
websites are hacked
POLICE are warning businesses to
ensure their online security is up
to date after hackers tried to steal
thousands of pounds of goods.
The two businesses discovered
hackers had changed the online
value of their goods to 1p before
trying to buy the items – which
included £2,000 of furniture –
with a stolen credit card. On both
occasions, the companies spotted
Sleeping Beauty is one of the
most well–loved pantomimes of
all time. The show is jam–packed
with laughs, action, drama,
surprises, live music & songs and
plenty of audience participation,
all performed by a fantastic
star–studded cast and live band.

Street’s bad boy Frank Foster,
stars as Carabose the Wicked
Wizard and Master of the
Underworld. In addition to
sensational costumes, the
glittering set includes a rotating
spinning tower castle plus a
15–foot smoke–breathing
dragon. The special effects
highlights include a digitally
animated projection of a growing
forest of thorns which envelops
the castle where the inhabitants
sleep for 100 years.
