YOUNG Skelmersdale footballers have netted<br />
funds from SCA Hygiene Products to purchase<br />
new equipment.<br />
The Inter Skem Under–12s side has received<br />
£200 from the Skelmersdale–based<br />
company’s community fund to buy new balls<br />
for their matches and training sessions.<br />
The donation came through the request of<br />
SCA employee Paul Nesbitt, whose son Jake<br />
plays for the team in the Skelmersdale Junior<br />
Football League.<br />
FIVE lucky <strong>Champion</strong> readers are in for a<br />
festively fun–packed day out at Liverpool<br />
Football Club next month, after winning our<br />
competition.<br />
Ms P. Bowden of Waterloo, Mrs Mary<br />
SCA’s paper mill on Pimbo Road, produces<br />
paper tissues, and site manager Mark<br />
Mannering attended the side’s training session<br />
to present the equipment.<br />
He commented: “The adult volunteers<br />
behind the Inter Skem side are doing a great<br />
job in encouraging the young players and we<br />
hope our support will give the boys an extra<br />
boost to do well this season.”<br />
A committee of parents run the side and<br />
organise fundraising activities.<br />
Team manager Tony Roughley added:<br />
“Buying kit and equipment such as footballs<br />
can get very expensive and this money from<br />
SCA is really helpful to us.”<br />
