Available for FREE DOWNLOAD now at champnews.com 1113915 AFTER sweeping the board at an Ormskirk competition two weeks ago, dancers from Burscough’s Kelly Shirley School of Dance, have had major success at a prestigious Liverpool Dance competition. A total of 41 of the schools dancers returned to the Northwest Dance Challenge 2012 at the Liverpool Empire on Sunday, November 15 to defend their title of Northwest Dance Challenge Cabaret Champions 2011. They walked away not only with their title intact, but also added the Open Classical title to their credits, with three first places and three trophies across the competition. Dancers competed in the 16 years and under Cabaret Section with their routine ‘Jive Me Crazy’, which took Report by Henry James the first award of the night, closely followed by a first place for ‘Reflections’ in the Open Cabaret section and then ‘Titanium’ took first place in the Open Classical section. School Principal Kelly Tobin said: “I would like to say a massive congratulations to all my amazing students for completing ‘the hat trick’ at the Liverpool Empire. They were delighted to have been awarded the ‘triple’ and enjoyed every minute of their performances at the Liverpool Empire. “The standard of this competition was extremely high this year so to retain our position as winners was an exceptional feat; to walk away with one winners title, let alone three, is incredible. I think we may be needing more shelf space for the three enormous trophies.” Event organiser Sharon Collins of Smile Productions added: “Congratulations to all the dancers, very well deserved wins!” Judging the event were Liverpool’s Danielle Wheeler from the musical ‘42nd Street’; Deana Difrancescantonio, dance professional and teacher; Natalie Dignam, currently touring with ‘Grease The Musical’ and Marcquelle Jermaine Ward, a street dancer with many championship titles and TV credits to his name. A GROUP of kindhearted fundraisers will be walking right across West Lancashire this weekend to help raise funds to help those battling with cancer. Friends and relatives of Keith Hankinson, who is currently being treated for cancer at Southport Hospital, will walk from the resort to the Stanley pub in Up Holland this Saturday (December 1) – with some of the group donning all–in–one baby suits for the duration of the journey. Amy Hankinson, Keith’s daughter, said: “The nurses and staff at the new chemotherapy day ward in Southport Hospital are special, they talk to you and help you overcome this horrible disease on a daily basis. “They make this horrible situation seem better than it is in the way they deal with you.” The ten–strong group will set off from Up Holland early on Saturday morning, using free bus tickets provided by Arriva, and expect to set off from Southport Hospital at around 8.30am, reaching Ormskirk by lunchtime and arriving in Up Holland at the Stanley Pub later that afternoon. Fundraisers march<br />
