Commercial News Meet the Team By Catherine Erney Xceligent By now you should be familiar with me and Angie – the COCIE team that supports the Columbus commercial real estate market. We also have fantastic and capable support from our Xceligent offices in Kansas City and Sedalia, Missouri. Our group has a combined tenure of 18 years with the company and 35 years working in commercial real estate. Here we share a little insight about our other team members. Julie Miller, Sale Comparables Researcher, began her career with Xceligent in September 2007 and is a stand-out employee. Just check out our COMPS to see what a good job she does. Julie says she approaches each property record – whether it be for the sale of a $250,000 Class C Office Building, or a multi-million dollar sale of a group of Industrial Buildings just east of the Arena District – the same way. Her research of each property begins on the Auditor’s Web site, takes her through the county Recorder’s site, the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, Business First of Columbus, a variety of press releases and, hopefully, culminates with a phone call/e-mail to a listing broker. Columbus is hands down her favorite market because brokers here are so forthcoming with information, allowing her to prepare the most complete comparables possible. For that she extends a heartfelt “thanks” to each and every one of them! Julie holds an Associates of Arts degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, with a minor in Creative Writing. She is the mother of two, a sixteen-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son, and is a wife, sister and daughter. Suzy Brooks, Business Development Analyst, has studied business development and Psychology at Penn Valley in Kansas City, and has over 10 years of great customer service and sales experience. She joined the Xceligent/COCIE team last September and works with regional sales representatives. Suzy enjoys competitive volleyball, boating and is dedicated to volunteering her time to build her community. She also enjoys her two daughters and all the joy they bring to life. “To love life is to live it, and live it with passion.” Jessica Kabler, Client Services Representative, started in Xceligent’s Customer Care Department three years ago, where she worked the Dallas/San Antonio metro area. As the department grew, she began working the Nashville, Memphis and Little Rock areas and, eventually, took over Columbus, Oklahoma City, New Mexico, and the recently launched, Omaha. She trains brokers and their administrative assistants on how to use the data base, reviews new listings, runs a brochure report and checks to make sure that the building is mapped properly. She then searches for potential tenants, runs a sales comp count and sends this information to the listing agent, where she verifies the information with the agent for accuracy. She shows the agent how to run reports, view tenants that suit their needs and pull comps that are of value in their area. She also answers phone calls and e-mails and is the best in our company at what she does. Do you see a trend here? Jessica has taken several real estate courses at the local community college and plans to take an appraisal course next. She has a fiveyear-old daughter who will be starting her first year of school this August.
