III – THE MINUTES<br />
From an Email By Syed Hashemi – CGAP<br />
As you remember we c<strong>on</strong>vened <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>meeting</str<strong>on</strong>g> to share with each o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> different activities<br />
we have undertaken, review <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> progress we have made and highlight <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> outputs we expect.<br />
We wanted to use this sharing to help articulate a coherent, coordinated strategy and a<br />
comm<strong>on</strong> acti<strong>on</strong> plan, that focused <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> synergy between our different initiatives.<br />
I really feel we have moved ahead in clarifying issues and especially in developing a comm<strong>on</strong><br />
sense <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose. Let me at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> moment go back to our decisi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> work ahead to assess<br />
where we are at. I will arbitrarily assign <strong>on</strong>e pers<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> each <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> tasks to report back to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
group <strong>on</strong> progress <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir specific activity. I am hoping this will stir <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m to c<strong>on</strong>vene <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir<br />
own small group and push <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> agenda ahead. You will also see that I have added a name here<br />
and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re to ensure greater participati<strong>on</strong>. I have missed a few because I didn't know what <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y<br />
would be interested in. Please let me know and I will include you in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> groups.<br />

IV – THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SP TASK FORCE<br />
DRAFT (from Laura Foose)<br />
Social Performance Task Force in Micr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>inance:<br />
Comm<strong>on</strong> Acti<strong>on</strong> Plan<br />
Background<br />
In <strong>March</strong> 2005, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Argidius Foundati<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ford Foundati<strong>on</strong> and CGAP brought toge<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r<br />
leaders from various <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> initiatives in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> micr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>inance industry to come to<br />
agreement <strong>on</strong> a comm<strong>on</strong> <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> framework and to develop an acti<strong>on</strong> plan to move<br />
<strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> forward. Two working groups were formed as a result <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this <str<strong>on</strong>g>meeting</str<strong>on</strong>g> – a<br />
Social Performance Task Force (“SP Task Force”) and a CGAP D<strong>on</strong>or Working Group <strong>on</strong> Social<br />
Performance. The SP Task Force is working to better communicate with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> industry what is<br />
meant by <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong>, to describe <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> different levels <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong>, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
diverse range <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> questi<strong>on</strong>s that people seek to address through <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> measurement<br />
and management. The CGAP D<strong>on</strong>or Working Group is working <strong>on</strong> developing good d<strong>on</strong>or<br />
practice in <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> and supporting <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> industry standards and<br />
benchmarks for <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong>.<br />
Comm<strong>on</strong> Acti<strong>on</strong> Plan<br />
The SP Task Force developed a comm<strong>on</strong> acti<strong>on</strong> plan that takes advantage <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> synergies<br />
between <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> different groups who are carrying out <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong> initiatives– primarily <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
CERISE group, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Imp-Act Programme, CGAP-Ford Social Performance Indicators Project, The<br />
SEEP Network, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Council <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Micr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>inance Equity Funds. The members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> SP Task<br />
Force are collaborating to come to agreement <strong>on</strong> terminology, increase learning, disseminate<br />
findings, build industry wide support, and create a comm<strong>on</strong> calendar around <strong>social</strong> <strong>performance</strong><br />
activities.
The following summarizes <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> agenda <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> SP Task Force for 2005, notes <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> subcommittee<br />
