My PASSION Magazine

Everyone has a passion. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a voice. And everyone wants to be heard. Because of this, “My Passion Magazine” was birthed. Each article that is written on these pages are articles from the heart. Stories that needed to be heard. Stories that will inspire you. Stories that will make you laugh, but there may be some a little sad. Some will add a little understanding to your life that you may not have had before. Some may add a few calories to your body but some will discuss how to get rid of them. All in all they are stories of someone’s passion. Each writer has contributed these articles so that others will be encouraged. I want to thank each writer for their hard work in putting their passion on paper.

Gardening
Spot
Hydrangea
Striking, large blooms of white or pink are the
main characteristic of the Hydrangea. Give the
correct conditions, the blossoms can even turn
blue.
This year I have decided to plant several hydrangeas
in my yard. So I have started studying this plant and
I have really become intrigued.
The hydrangea, with its rounded white, pink or blue
flowers is an attractive and decorative plant in the
greenhouse, window, terrace or planted in the yard.
The bush grows wild along the rivers of China and
Japan, and was brought to Europe by plant collectors
in the 1800’s.
in January to the lowest pair of buds and move it back
into the warmth. Water sparingly until the first flower
buds appear.
Most people think of the hydrangea as a garden shrub,
often planted in acid soils alongside Rhododendrons.
It blooms in the beginning of April and will continue
flowering right through September.
When you buy your plants, look for bushy plants with
large dark green leaves and stiff stalks. Thin weedy stalks
will not be able to hold up the flower heads. Cut it back
every year and enjoy its beauty year after year.
It has a love of water and humidity. The most wellknown
variety is blue. This is probably because of
the colors of its flowers. They are basically white
but can turn blue in acid soil and pink if the soil is
alkaline.
Three or four plants together make a lovely sight when
placed together in clay pots on the patio or sunporch. All
water loving plants are basically sociable and grow best
when they are together with their friends.
The hydrangea will live for many years if treated
right. Cut the flower heads off just after they have
finished flowering and move the plant to a humid but
not too warm place. Better still, plant it out in the
garden in a sunny and airy spot in some acid soil.
If you are keeping the hydrangea in a pot, water the
hydrangea regularly and do not let it dry out. Bring
it in before the night frosts creep upon it and ruin
your work. Keep it in a cool spot inside. Cut it back
