My PASSION Magazine

Everyone has a passion. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a voice. And everyone wants to be heard. Because of this, “My Passion Magazine” was birthed. Each article that is written on these pages are articles from the heart. Stories that needed to be heard. Stories that will inspire you. Stories that will make you laugh, but there may be some a little sad. Some will add a little understanding to your life that you may not have had before. Some may add a few calories to your body but some will discuss how to get rid of them. All in all they are stories of someone’s passion. Each writer has contributed these articles so that others will be encouraged. I want to thank each writer for their hard work in putting their passion on paper.

Reaching
The World
by Shana Cheeks
The words Mission Trip evoke different images to so many people. What mission trip means to me is an
opportunity to share the gospel with people who don’t know Him. It could be locally, in another state or
even another country. There are things you need to know about mission trips that will make it more successful
and I want to share a few with you in this article.
Make sure that this is what God has called you to do. My experience has been that it is a little uncomfortable
when you step outside of yourself and begin to do what God has asked you to do. It requires work to
go to the mission field and a strong faith in God. Faith that this is what you are supposed to be doing with
your life. There will be people who will do their best to discourage you because it makes them uncomfortable
or they worry about the places you go.
When you are in the mission field remember you are not there to change their culture. You are there to
share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, His love, peace ,joy, hope and so much more. Our job isn’t to
teach them legalistic religious ways to worship, pray or serve God. Our job is to share the gospel and disciple
them in the Living Word of God as Matthew 28:19-20 commands us.
I want to share a few practical things you will need to know before going on mission trips out of our country.
You want to make sure you have good information and the places you will be traveling have been
vetted. There are many people that want you to come and minister. However, you need to make sure that
you are planting in fertile soil and they know how to keep you safe.
