SQUASH
• Participation numbers in Squash have remained
consistent over last two years, with record entries
for the individual championships held in Birmingham
• The men’s individual champion Joel Hinds (Birmingham)
SURFING
• The Surf Championships was the first championships
for BUCS (as a new organisation) in the new season.
It was also the first time the championships were held in
October. The move worked well as the water and weather
conditions were suitable for the championships. BUCS
would like to thank the BSA, volunteer and RNLI lifeguards
for organising the championships
emphasis on encouraging more women and students
with disabilities to enter the Individuals next year, which will
be hosted by the University of
Nottingham for the next three years
• The SMG is forging stronger links
with home country governing
bodies and university sports
groups to reduce drop-off from
further to higher education.
This is being addressed
through publicity about
university clubs and local
leagues links. Players leaving
the junior ranks are targeted
via a national ranking
system and by player
