Aluminium Rim Cleaner 

Cleaning the painted surfaces of road vehicles is a very difficult task, as the composition of the dirt varies greatly according 

to the terrain travelled through and the climatic conditions. The main constituents that need to be removed are oil, grease 

and pigment dirt, as well as rust. Suitable cleaners need an acid reaction so that they can remove these various types of 

dirt in a single operation. 

Cleaners based on sulphuric or hydrochloric acid may corrode the surfaces of the vehicles and also form precipitates in 

hard water areas. With Hordaphos ® CC additives, however, these undesired side effects of cleaning operations are 

virtually non-existent. 

Formulation 

10 % Hordaphos CC MS 

10 % Phosphoric acid 75 % 

2 % Citric acid 

10 % Butyl diglycol (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) 

68 % Water 

Application 

The formulation is ready to use in undiluted form. Rinse with 

water after cleaning.

Preparation 

The citric acid is solved in the given amount of water, the 

detergents added and completed with the corresponding 

amounts of Hordaphos CC MS.

Caravan Cleaner 

As a result of the good wetting properties of Hordaphos ® 136, it is possible to use this caravan cleaner for both manuel and 

machine cleaning. The careful selection of raw materials ensures that none of the many different surface materials on 

caravans are attacked.

Car Shampoo, Acidic 

The surfactants in car shampoos can expose hairline cracks in the paint and so facilitate penetration of water into the 

paint. An effecive answer to this is to apply a layer of wax that seals the pores and hairline cracks and hence preserves the 

paint. A certain degree of pore sealing can be achieved by wax-containing shampoos. 

With Hordaphos ® CC additives the forming of precipitates in hard water areas is prevented.

4.0 % Licowax ® KST (Clariant, Pigments & Additives Div.) 

5.0 % Genapol ® X 080 (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) 

2.0 % Citric acid

Application 

Use in dilutions with water 1:10 to 1:30.

Preparation 

Dissolve the Trilon A powder in about 1/4 of the water and 

heat to about 80 °C. Sprinkle in Licowax KST while stirring. 

As soon as the wax is dissolved, discontinue the heating 

and add the rest of the water cold. Stir in Genapol X 080, 

Hordaphos CC MN and the citric acid.

Screen Wash 

When automobile windshields or window panes are cleaned, all rust, dust, pollen and grease must be completely removed 

and the cleaner must have no effect on other materials such as sealing compounds or automotive paints. To achieve 

a satisfactory result under these conditions formulations based on isopropanol and Hordaphos ® CC MIS can be 

recommended.
