Tuesday <strong>May</strong> 1 st is Vappu (<strong>May</strong> Day)! Join us for some <strong>May</strong> Day fun at 2:30pm<br />
This month’s Residents Council meeting will be held on Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 3 at<br />
10:00am. All residents welcome.<br />
On Thursday <strong>May</strong> 3 rd , join John Sigvaldson at 11am for some musical entertainment.<br />
On Saturday <strong>May</strong> 5 th , Unto and Taina Mäkinen will be at <strong>Suomi</strong>-<br />
<strong>Koti</strong> for an afternoon of singing and playing beginning at<br />
2:30pm. They will perform and also lead us in some group<br />
singing. Everyone welcome<br />
The Family Council will be meeting on Monday <strong>May</strong> 7 at 2pm.New members and<br />
visitors are very welcome.<br />
Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 9 th and Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 16 th are this month's spa days. Welcome to<br />
come and let our volunteers Tuula and Taina pamper you with some nail care, hand care,<br />
etc. at 1:30pm.<br />
Also on Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 9 th , we will be have the group “God’s Music Makers” as our<br />
guests. Welcome to the lounge at 2:30pm!<br />
On Thursday <strong>May</strong> 10 th , weather permitting, we hope to start planting the flowers in our<br />
patio boxes. All residents are welcome to come help or watch.<br />
Sunday <strong>May</strong> 13 th is Mother’s Day! There will be a coffee party<br />
at 2:30 recognizing all of the mothers, but everyone is welcome to<br />
join.<br />
There is also a United Church Service on Sunday <strong>May</strong> 13 at<br />
11:30am
On Saturday <strong>May</strong> 19th, there will be a service in the B2 auditorium by the Laestadian<br />
church, after which the children will be visiting the 7th floor to spend some time with the<br />
<strong>Nursing</strong> <strong>Home</strong> residents.<br />
On Sunday <strong>May</strong> 20 th , there will be an Estonian Church service at 3pm on the B1 level.<br />
Also on Sunday <strong>May</strong> 20 th , Raimo and Mirjam Silegren will be visiting <strong>Suomi</strong>-<strong>Koti</strong>’s<br />
7 th floor to lead us in some spiritual music at 3pm.<br />
On Monday <strong>May</strong> 21st, Norm Niskanen will entertaining us with some live accordion<br />
music beginning at 2:30pm in the activity lounge. Come sing, dance, tap your toes!<br />
Everyone welcome.<br />
Join us in the lounge on Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 23 for Pizza and Movie night, beginning 6pm.<br />
Saturday <strong>May</strong> 26 th , weather permitting, we will have our first BBQ of the season at<br />
2:30pm on the 7 th floor patio.<br />
Sunday <strong>May</strong> 27 th is Pentecost. There will be a bus outing to Agricola Church leaving<br />
at 9:30am and returning approximately 12:30. Volunteers are needed for this outing; If<br />

There will also be a special music rating program (levyraati) on Sunday <strong>May</strong> 27 at<br />
2:30, as well as Saalem Church’s “Evening of Good Tidings” in B2 auditorium at<br />
6pm. We will try to arrange escorts for residents who are interested in attending.<br />
On Wednesday <strong>May</strong> 30th, join Unto Makinen for an afternoon of singing and<br />
accordion music beginning at 2:30pm.<br />
Thursday <strong>May</strong> 31 st is the date of the monthly birthday party<br />
celebrating all residents born in the month of <strong>May</strong>. Best wishes to Lars<br />
Forss, Mike (Manivald) Ots, and Irma (Tilma) Roti. The party will be<br />
held in the B2 auditorium at 2:30pm<br />
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fundraising Kid’s<br />
Clothing Sale, whether as volunteers or shoppers! We raised $2325!<br />
Welcome to New student Tiia Ylikangas, who is doing her placement with us from April<br />
30 to June 3.<br />
Welcome also to our new Physiotherapy Assistant Rosana Grijaivo, who will be covering<br />
Helen’s maternity leave. Rosana will be in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-<br />
4:30pm.
