3 NEW FEATURES IN PTP 250-01-03
3.1 Headline Features
PTP 250 is a new product release from the Motorola PTP Wireless Solutions Product Group.
Motorola PTP 250 radios are designed for Ethernet bridging over point-to-point microwave links
in the unlicensed bands 5.4 GHz (ETSI Band B) and 5.8 GHz (ETSI Band C and FCC ISM
band). The PTP 250 is a wireless Ethernet bridge offering user data rates of up to 220 Mbps
aggregate.
The PTP250 Release 01-03 contains the following new features.
The main new features introduced are as follows:
1. Data rate performance in noisy RF environments is substantially improved.
2. Country code support has been added for the following bands:
Argentina added 5.8GHz band (now supports both 5.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands)
Ecuador added 5.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands
Peru added 5.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands
Venezuela added 5.8GHz band
3. Operation of other country codes has been corrected as follows:
Taiwan weather radar band settings updated to comply with latest regulations.
4 KNOWN RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS IN PTP 250-01-03
PTP 250 has the following restrictions in Release 01-03:

Range from one end of the link to the other must be entered manually on installation
Maximum range is limited to 27km for 40MHz channel size, and limited to 54km for 20MHz
channel size.
PTP 250 may not always detect other PTP products (PTP 250 / 300 / 400 / 500 / 600)
operating on the same channel. Therefore it is recommended that customers use frequency
planning when co-locating PTP 250 radios with other PTP radios on the same mast. In the
case where a PTP 250 radio is operating on the same channel as another PTP radio in
close proximity, the PTP 250 radio may operate with reduced throughput.

During normal operation the "Wireless Link Status" attribute on the "Home" and "Status"
pages will sometimes display "Radar CAC". This does not mean that a Radar has been
detected, but that the radio is checking the channel for potential Radars. This "channel
availability check" is a mandatory requirement for regions that require Radar detection. The
channel availability check lasts for one minute and happens when the radio is disarmed or
the channel is changed.
