Accommodation
Where you live can
make all the
difference to your
study experience
in Kuching.
At Swinburne Sarawak, we offer
various accommodation options to
ensure that your home
environment suits your lifestyle.
On-campus hostels
Two fully furnished on-campus hostels
are available to students.
Divided into male and female blocks,
they are designed to accommodate
more than 400 students. The rooms
are available for single occupancy or
twin sharing. Furnishings include bed,
study table, chair and wardrobe.
Ceiling fans are a normal feature while
selected units are equipped with airconditioning.
Besides wireless computer network
access, amenities include common
reading/visitor areas, kitchen and
dining rooms as well as laundry and
drying areas.
Security is provided 24 hours a day
and wardens look into the needs of
students at each hostel block.
To reserve a room, a non-refundable
booking fee is required. Payment of
rental is to be made for each
semester.
Off-campus accommodation
These apartments are located within a
reasonable distance from the campus.
Each apartment has four rooms.
Students share a common area,
kitchen and two bathrooms.
Each room is furnished with a single
bed, study table and chair, wardrobe,
fan and curtains.
The apartment comes with dining sets,
washing machine and refrigerator.
Rental starts from RM250 to RM350
per month (without air-conditioner) and
includes utilities. You are advised to
book at least six weeks ahead and a
non-refundable booking fee is
required.
A shuttle service to and from the
campus is available at a minimal
monthly fee.

accommodation
The university helps students locate
other suitable off-campus
accommodation as well. A database
on such housing can be obtained from
Student Services and viewing of the
premises can also be arranged.
Students taking up such
accommodation are required to sign a
tenancy agreement with the landlord.
Temporary accommodation
New students who seek off-campus
housing are advised to take lodgings
at budget hotels while looking for
suitable accommodation. Budget hotel
rates may range from RM50 to RM150
per night. You may seek the assistance
of Student Services for help in locating
budget hotels.

Living costs
The cost of living in Kuching is
affordable although this depends on
your lifestyle. As a guide, the monthly
expenditure is from a minimum of
about RM1,000 to RM1,450.
