Introduction to Tatts Lotteries
Tattersall’s Sweeps Pty Ltd (Tatts), Tatts NT
Lotteries (Tatts NT), Golden Casket Lottery
Corporation Limited (Golden Casket) and
New South Wales Lotteries Corporation Pty
Ltd (NSW Lotteries) (collectively referred to
as Tatts Lotteries) are leaders in providing
innovative and socially responsible lottery
games in Victoria, Tasmania, NT, ACT,
Queensland and New South Wales. Golden
Casket has been operating since 1916 when
the first Golden Casket lottery was conceived
to raise funds to help World War One veterans
and their families. Tatts was originally founded
by George Adams in 1881 and New South
Wales Lotteries has been operating since 1931
as the then State Lottery office more than 80
years ago.
Responsible play is all about being informed,
having fun and knowing your limits. Tatts
Lotteries and our retail agency network
(retailers) support and encourage the
responsible play of our lottery games. We’re
committed to the Tatts Lotteries’ Responsible
Gambling Codes of Conduct for each State or
territory in which we operate (the Codes) and to
keeping lotteries fun and entertaining.

Responsible Play Program
Tatts Lotteries runs a Responsible Play Program
which is designed to encourage responsible
gambling. While recognising that lotteries are
a low risk form of gambling, the Tatts Lotteries
Responsible Play Program includes a range
of measures to encourage responsible play
of lotteries. This ‘Have Fun & Play Responsibly’
brochure is about keeping you informed so that
you continue to enjoy playing our games.
The cornerstones of the Responsible Play
Program are the Tatts Lotteries Responsible
Play Codes applicable to each state or territory.
You will find a high level summary of all of
the Codes in this brochure. A full copy of the
Code relevant to a specific state or territory is
available for inspection at the relevant Tatts,
NSW Lotteries or Golden Casket outlet or online.
Under the Tatts Lotteries Responsible Play
Codes, Tatts, NSW Lotteries, Golden Casket, and
our retailers are committed to:
• Not selling lottery products to minors.
• Treating customers fairly and honestly.
• Valuing customers’ privacy and
confidentiality.
• Providing accurate information about game
rules and game information.
• Honouring all legitimate prize claims.
• Promoting our lottery games honestly.
• Encouraging customers to set a gambling
limit according to their individual
circumstances.
• Providing a copy of the ACT’s Gambling
and Racing Control (Code of Practice)
Regulation 2002 for inspection at all NSW
Lotteries outlets in the ACT.

Playing lotteries should always be fun and
so Tatts Lotteries encourages you to set a
gambling limit. If playing lotteries stops being
fun, you should seek help. Here are some of the
signs to look out for:
• Spending increasing amounts of time or
money on gambling.
• Not knowing when to stop gambling.
• Borrowing money to gamble or to get out
of financial trouble caused by gambling.
• Spending more money on gambling than
you can afford.
• Feeling guilty about your gambling.
• Someone close to you complaining about
your gambling.
• Becoming angry or distressed when losing
or trying to cut down on gambling.
• Doing things that risk a relationship, job,
home life or good opportunity for the sake
of gambling.
Remember to set a gambling limit according to
your individual circumstances.

Help is available if you need it
If you think you or someone you know has a
problem with gambling, there are help services
available.
To talk to a counsellor, please call the
24 hour Gambling Helpline:
• National Number: 1800 858 858; or
• Call 1300 88 22 96 (during office
hours) to speak to the Gambling
Contact Officer for Tatts Lotteries in
the ACT; or
• Contact Tatts Lotteries on
1300 138 132 and ask to speak a
Responsible Play Liaison Officer (for
States other than the ACT).
The Responsible Play Liaison Officers are based
at Head Office to help you. Upon your request,
they can:
• Provide information and contact details of
gambling related support services.
• Remove you from the Winners Circle,
Players Club or Tatts Card program by:
• deactivating your card; and / or
• stopping promotional letters or offers
from being personally mailed to you.

Stay informed – know the odds
Tatts Lotteries offers a wide range of lottery
products. Just as prizes differ from game to
game, the odds of winning prizes also vary
across Tatts Lotteries games.
Odds of winning on Lotto
With Lotto products, the odds vary according to
the number of game panels played on an entry.
In this brochure, Lotto odds are presented
for one standard game however the odds
are reduced for a minimum entry where the
minimum number of games that are played in
an entry is greater than one.
The odds are presented for the chances of
winning Division 1 and for winning any prize.
The odds of winning any prize refer to the odds
of winning at least one prize on one standard
game across the available prize divisions.
These odds have been verified by a qualified
and independent statistician.

Instant Scratch-Its tickets
While the odds of winning a prize on
Instant Scratch-Its® are generally 1 in 4, this
does not mean that if four tickets are purchased
one has to be a winner. These are overall
odds based on the total number of tickets
available for sale in a game, not on an individual
purchase.
The odds of winning presented in the table
below are based on the total number of tickets
which are generally printed for each ticket type.
However as the total number of tickets printed
for each ticket type may vary from time to time,
in those cases the odds of winning prizes may
vary from those presented in the table below.
All prize amounts (including the top prize) are
only available until won. This may occur prior to
all tickets in a game being sold.

network consists of over 3,000 retailers who are
well trained, and trusted with the responsibility

transactions every year and go to great lengths
to ensure customers’ privacy and anonymity is

Summary of the Code
Tatts Lotteries is committed to encouraging responsible
play of its lottery products. The Tatts Lotteries Responsible
Gambling Codes of Conduct (the Codes), for each state or
territory in which we operate, are the cornerstones of the
Tatts Lotteries Responsible Play Program. Below is a high
level summary of the various Codes:
• A full copy of the relevant state or territory Tatts Lotteries
Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct is available for
inspection at Tatts, NSW Lotteries or Golden Casket
outlets or online at www.tattersalls.com.au,
www.nsw.ozlotteries.com, www.nswlotteries.com.au or
www.goldencasket.com.
• Public Lottery Rules & information on the odds of winning
are available for inspection or on display at Tatts, NSW
Lotteries and Golden Casket outlets or can be viewed at the
above websites.
• Tatts Lotteries encourages you to set a gambling limit
according to your individual circumstances.
• Tatts Lotteries has a Gambling Contact Officer for Tatts
and NSW Lotteries outlets in the ACT. The GCO can be
contacted on 1300 88 22 96 for any problem gambling
issues in the ACT.
• Tatts Lotteries has Responsible Play Liaison Officers available
on 1300 138 132 as a point of contact for any problem
gambling issues for states and territories other than the ACT.
• Tatts Lotteries has a complaints handling process for any
complaints related to the operation of the Codes or any
other complaint.
• Tatts Lotteries has a Players 1 st Hotline on 1300 PLAYER for
concerns about lottery transactions or prize claims.
• Retailers are not permitted to sell to minors or any person
purchasing on behalf of minors. Retailers are also not
permitted to pay prizes to minors.
• Tatts Lotteries ensures that all advertisements and
promotions comply with the Tatts Lotteries Responsible
Gambling Codes of Conduct.
• Tatts Lotteries has a financial transaction policy. Retailers
cannot provide credit or lend money to players for the
purposes of purchasing a lottery entry. Restrictions apply
on the payment of large prizes in cash over $1,000 in
NSW Lotteries outlets and over $4,000 in Tatts and Golden
Casket outlets. Cashing of cheques is not permitted in
Golden Casket, Tatts or NSW Lotteries outlets.
• Customers who are intoxicated are not permitted to buy
lottery entries.
• Tatts Lotteries and its retailers provide a safe gambling
environment and discourage customers from engaging in
extended gambling.
• Tatts Lotteries provides responsible gambling training and
material to all relevant staff members and retailers prior to
their commencement at an outlet. Each retailer is provided
with responsible gambling material for the purposes of
on-training their staff members. In the ACT, retailers are
re-trained every five years. ACT retailers also on-train their
staff every five years.
• In ACT outlets, the ACT Gambling and Racing Control
(Code of Practice) Regulation 2002 is available for
inspection on request.
