Banks 13-14: the Ambience Programs<br />

Program Descriptions<br />

The prrograms listed above for the AMBIENCE program<br />

were designed to emulate the real spaces typically<br />

required for music, jingle, and post-production<br />

work.<br />

1 Very Large Ambience<br />

Resembles a very large ambient space (large shopping<br />

mall, parking garage, warehouse) that has far<br />

more "clutter" than a concert hall or performance<br />

environment. Lowering the RT LEVEL reduces the<br />

clutter while maintaining the sense of a very large<br />

ambient space.<br />

2 Large Ambience<br />

Similar to Very Large Ambience, but less spacious.<br />

Provides the ambience of a large symmetrical room.<br />

3 Medium Ambience<br />

Similar to Large Ambience, but smaller. Imagine a<br />

large courtroom, or a lecture room — then load the<br />

preset.<br />

4 Small Ambience<br />

Similar to Medium Ambience, but smaller — typical<br />

lobby, or small lounge.<br />

5 Strong Ambience<br />

The room size is larger than Medium Ambience, but the<br />

RT LEVEL has been reduced to provide a strong<br />

"wash" of ambience with a relatively short decay time.<br />

6 Heavy Ambience<br />

Resembles a large rectangular performance space<br />

with musicians or performers positioned in the middle<br />

of the space. Microphone proximity to the musicians or<br />

performers can be simulated by adjusting the MIX<br />

control. If the <strong>480L</strong> is used with a mixing console and<br />

interfaced with stereo sends and returns, the MIX<br />

control should be left at ALL FX and the level of the<br />

sends will determine proximity effect.<br />

7 Ambient Hall<br />

Fast, dense ambient attack. Reverberant characteristics<br />

of Large RHall.<br />

8 Announcer<br />

Adds a very useful ambient spaciousness to a dry<br />

announcer's dialog track.<br />

9 Closet<br />

Just as you would imagine — it even feels cramped!<br />

0 Gated Ambience<br />

Very strong ambience with fast decay — just add your<br />

favorite snare drum!<br />
