What training methods do you
employ?
Range practice with a variety of
guns and ammo, not just my favorite
carry piece. I shoot in USPSA and Steel
Challenge regularly. These are just
games, but they sure help keep one’s
head in the right “mode.”

are quite cordial.
“When people see the value and fun
of gun ownership, and they have a safe
and responsible role model to follow,
the interest and desire spreads like
wildfire,” says Nick. “It’s wonderful to
be at the head of all that momentum.
I’m teaching them all the positive messages
to offer to other people. Owning
a gun is your civil right. It’s healthy, responsible,
useful, and downright fun.
The laws are on your side to become
a gun owner. When other people see
you behave responsibly as a gun owner,
they’ll respond respectfully. Then
you spread the interest to them.”
In March, I took a four-day defensive
pistol course alongside Nick and
Insun. Nick’s shooting technique, rapid
but smooth, was quite impressive
to watch. Using his IPSC gun, a Beretta
92, he delivered rapid and accurate
hits apparently effortlessly. Between
strings of fire, he coached and encouraged
other learners. His joy of learning
and practicing new skills was obvious
and contagious. A man who grew
up when gun ownership was socially
unremarkable, Nick is making it better
than merely unremarkable by his
example and evangelism. He is making
gun ownership attractive and celebrated
in a way that crosses generations
and cultural backgrounds.
Have you ever had to use your firearm
in a defensive situation?

Do you have any recommendations?
There are so many myths out there
regarding guns, shooting sports, self
defense, and the right to bear arms.
I really encourage people to pursue
their own critical continuing education.
Ultimately, myth will always hurt
you badly.
The truth may hurt once in a while,
but ultimately it will also be your salvation.
How long have you carried a concealed
weapon?
About 15 years.
What weapons do you carry?
Currently a Ruger LCP. In past years,
I used a 5-inch 1911 in 45 ACP, a Glock
19, and a Colt Pony. I have never carried
a backup gun.
What concealment holsters do you
use?
With this pocket gun, a DeSantis
Nemesis works very well for me. We
also have a local man in Las Vegas,
Nevada Gunleather, who makes a line
of custom holsters.
What do you do for a living?
I practice architecture in Southern
Nevada, commercial and public buildings
only. I also own a wonderful restaurant
in Las Vegas, Kaizen Fusion
Roll and Sushi.
Do you have any advice for our
readers?
As an armed individual, I’ve never
seen a gun as a means of justice, only
as a means of defense. Knowing the
difference answers millions of “what
if” questions before they are even
asked. H
