supplied the coaching, the loaner

after Insun started shooting practice,
one of the sushi chefs got mugged for
his paycheck and severely beaten on
the way home. Now he expresses an
interest in self defense and learning to

architect, Nick is a partner in Kaizen,
a successful chain of Asian fusion
restaurants in Las Vegas.

Now an architect living in Las Vegas,
Nevada, Nick is very passionate about
everything he does. An architect
by both calling and profession, he
speaks with feeling of the constructed
wonders dotting Las Vegas. He
drives in NASCAR rallies, sometimes
applying the same spirit of driving to
the commute. When a quirk of fate
landed him an interest in an Asian
restaurant that he had earlier designed,
he set about improving it with much
imagination and enthusiasm. His deer
hunting forays became full-blown
explorations of the desert and the deer
ecology. Though he won’t mention it,
helping people around him is equally
a passion with Nick.
After this year’s SHOT Show, I invited
one of his restaurant employees
to model for me. With time before
my flight being too short to fit both
the photo shoot and the pre-planned
range trip, we decided to combine the
two events. An immigrant from Korea,
Insun had never handled a gun before.
That first experience went extremely
well, and she fell in love with shooting.
For the two months that followed, Nick
and Insun visited the range two, three,
