For decades, many publications like this one have
catalogued the dirty, dishonest, and brutal tactics of an
illegal agency (the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms, and Explosives) charged with the enforcement
of an entire body of unconstitutional law.
Tell me where the Second
Amendment mentions a government-approved
privilege of
certain government-approved individuals
to keep and bear governmentapproved
arms in a government-approved
manner, exclusively at government-approved
times and then only in
government-approved places?
For the same amount of time, despite
endless scandals, massacres, investigations,
exposés, and Congressional
hearings of all kinds, the BATFE has
continued to grow in power and appropriations
until the very highest laws of
the land (the first ten amendments to
the Constitution, commonly known as
the Bill of Rights) that were supposed
to protect all of us from people like
them have come to mean practically
nothing. Our unconditional and absolute
right to own and carry the means
to protect ourselves from them is being
eliminated altogether.
Over the years we’ve tried everything:
petitions, rallies, demonstrations,
boycotts, running candidates
and voting on initiatives. But nothing
seems to work. With the aid and comfort
of a conniving gaggle of socialist
politicians, the criminal BATFE continues
to grow while our rights—and
our remaining alternatives—continue
to diminish. Recently, my own teenage
daughter, who had only heard about
the BATF, wanted to know what the “E”
stands for. “Everything?” she guessed.
Still, there is one bright spot remaining
on the horizon that may herald a
sunrise of freedom, rather than the
last sunset of liberty. A very wise man
once said, “The answer to the question,
‘Why don’t they...?’ usually comes
down to money.” Not only does it take
money to make money, it takes money
to deprive 300 million people of their
freedom.
Or, as somebody else once observed,
taxation is the fuel of war. Certainly
taxation is the fuel of the BATFE’s
evil war against Americans and their

Constitutional rights. Taxation is the
fuel of oppression. Cut off that fuel, and
a greatly reduced number of BATFE
agents will have to go back to counting
revenue stamps on bottles of liquor
and packs of cigarettes. Stop taxing alcohol
and tobacco, they will be out of
business altogether, and America will
be a better, cleaner place. Don’t forget
to outlaw civil asset forfeiture, as well,
because if the BATFE can’t steal it one
way, they’ll surely steal it another.
How do we get started? With an idea

to abolish the federal income tax
and make sure that the money BATFE
would spend to take away your rights
stays safely in your pocket instead.
That’s right, we’re saying tax abolition
is a public safety issue. Government
will be forced to reduce its “services”
to a minimum, while We the People
suddenly save about 40 percent whenever
we buy a new car, a home for our
family, that special shotgun or elk rifle.
That 40 percent isn’t pie in the sky, it’s
our peace dividend—the reward we receive
for ending the government’s war
on individual liberty.
