WEEK 11 • Friday 19 June 2009
common entrance results
Last Thursday was a red-letter day
in the Upper School as the 13+
Common Entrance results came in.
Excitement was in the air for those
girls who had sat their exams the
week before. It is worth noting that
some girls did their entrance tests
last term, and so have had to wait
patiently until now for their moment
of glory.
So, it’s congratulations to:
Claudia Aitken and Victoire Tardy-
Joubert (Alleyn’s), Isabella Bisset,
Letty Byatt, Olivia Monson
(Benenden), Georgia Clarke
(Bradfield), Serena Tate (Downside),
Phoebe Hayles, Annabel
Nelson (Emanuel), Ella Garel-Jones,
Madeleine Williams (Marlborough),
Sophie Davidson (St Mary’s, Ascot),
Daria Deluermoz (Sevenoaks), Rebecca
Creamer (Academic Exhibition
Our glamourous leavers dressed to impress
to Sherborne Girls), Isobel Atkinson, Tilly Mould and Augusta Redding (Tudor Hall with a Drama scholarship for Tilly
Mould), Alice Garvey and Charlotte Steel (Wellington), Isabella Bricknell (Woldingham) and Phoebe Campbell-Harris
(Music Scholarship to Wycombe Abbey). These are super results, and we are very proud of all of you. Well done!
Last Thursday night, the gaggle of schoolgirls underwent a magical transformation. In true Cinderella style, twentyone
elegant young ladies (above) came to the ball (a black tie dinner actually) held in their honour at no 74 for them and
their parents.
The garden looked superb, the champagne flowed, the food was delicious, the girls looked stunning – and the tears
were suppressed (although they had flowed freely earlier). A fabulous evening, a fitting end to their days at Broomwood.
Two things we’re sure of: these girls will all be friends for life, and we expect to see a lot of them back at Broomwood
in the future. Good luck, and well done to them all.
Carole Jenkinson – Head of Upper School
of Jerusalem captive because they would not listen to
Jeremiah and the word of God.
The Prep Teachers
– Garrad’s Road
Class 7 girls have been working extremely hard over
the past 2 weeks in the warm sunshine of the amphitheatre
rehearsing for their annual Revue. As well as
acting, singing and dancing, several students have
been involved in script writing and producing the evenings
entertainment.
So, what’s it all about? The scene opens with the
girls sitting around in their drama studio trying to decide
what to do for The Revue and they have precious little
time before Miss Sherman needs an answer, or there
will be no show! Time is running out. Will the Drama
Captain regain control? Will Miss Sherman like their
ideas? Will it rain and ruin everything? To find out the
answers to these and many other inexorable questions,
do please come to The Revue. Class 7 parents and
friends only Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June, 7.00
in the amphitheatre. Bring a picnic dinner and some
wine for after the show. We would love to see you there!
