WEEK 5 • Friday 15th May 2009
slapton ley – class 5
Class 5, together with Mrs Powell, Mrs McOrist, Miss Turtle and me, leave on
Monday 11 May to go Slapton Ley Field Centre for an exciting few days of pond
dipping, rock pooling and river investigation. We will spend most of our time in the
outdoor classroom, working on a new theme each day using facilities not available
in London. We hope to find the largest limpets on Gorah Rocks, catch carnivorous
mayfly nymphs in Slapton Ley and maybe even come face to face with a badger.
Time away such as this is also excellent preparation for boarding school and
independent living. Most of all though, it is great fun! Please make sure girls come
to school on Monday at the normal time in their home clothes with a packed lunch
in their school backpack and their suitcase! If your child is prone to travel sickness
please make sure you send them to school with their travel sickness pills and
ensure they have enough for 5 days.
artefacts and lots of Viking tales to tell. The children
am sure we will have a very exciting afternoon!
MISSING LIBRARY BOOKS
Lady Colquhoun and I would like the girls to search
through bookshelves, under beds and behind cupboards
for any overdue Broomwood Library books. There are
a considerable number of books missing, many of them
part of favourite series, which is particularly frustrating.
No penalties for late returns! Thank you.
Pippa Miller – Upper School Librarian
class 4 excursion
Class 4 will be marched to Mountfitchet Castle on
Tuesday 12 May to experience what life was like in
these parts once William had done all his conquering.
Unruly children will be pelted with fruit in the stocks,
or tied into the ducking stool and plunged into ice
cold water... that’ll teach ’em! However, worry ye not,
we plan to return to our Lord and Lady C with exactly
the same number of little serfs we leave with. Please
provide them with a packed lunch (no nuts).
