class 3 music concert
Class 3 astounded their parents and
teachers alike with some superb musical
talent and outstanding instrumental
pieces in their concert on Wednesday
16 June. We were treated to three year
group songs including; ‘I do like to be
beside the seaside’, Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’
and ‘I’ve Got Rhythm’. Laragh
Vaughan and Freddie van den Arend
showed the incredible progress they
have made in recorder playing as a duet
which followed a recorder ensemble
of six girls played ‘Waltzing Matilda’.
Some very well delivered piano solos
had us tapping our feet and the violinists
showed that ‘practice makes pretty
nearly perfect’! Well done to all the
children and also to Mr Smith.

Police talk on safety
Two policemen called
Jed and Kerry from
St Leonard’s Safer
Neighbourhood Team
came to our school
on Thursday 17 June
to talk about safety in
our neighbourhood.
They talked about saying
‘No!’ to strangers
and about calling 999
when you have got a
problem. They were very kind and gave us rulers, pencils,
stickers and road safety booklets. We enjoyed it very much
and look forward to saying hello to them when we see
them around the local area.

class 1 trip
The Class 1’s are looking forward to their trips to Holly
Lodge in Richmond Park next week on Tuesday (1N),
Thursday (1E) and Friday (1S). The children will be taking
part in minibeast hunts walking through the woods seeking
out minibeasts under logs, on the ground and by the
trees. With any luck we will see deer as well. Please could
all children bring in two named drinks, a packed lunch and
their wellington boots please. Thank you very much.

You will have received an order form for the school photograph
this week. If you have not had one, please ask at the
front desk for a spare one. They need to be returned to Mrs
Bowley at the front desk please, or to your child’s teacher
no later than Monday 21 June to ensure you get them by
the end of term.
church corner
Wednesday 23 June: 9.00 – Church Service at St Leonard’s
with Class 1S performing their church play of how Saul
was converted on the road to Damascus. Tea and coffee
will be served in the foyer before the service and all welcome
to attend. The service will be followed by a presentation
to Reverend Grear to celebrate his work as a school chaplain.
karate club
The children in karate club have been making great
progress this term. It has been lovely practicing our moves
outside in the garden.

a taste of india
The Class 3’s will be taking part in an Indian afternoon
on Monday 21 June. We will taste some typical food and
learn more about life in an Indian village. The children will
study a variety of Indian art and make their own patterns
using original wooden printing blocks. If we have good
weather we will be able to enjoy the whole afternoon outside
- fingers crossed!

the following results:
A-team won by 24 runs
(144-120); B-team
won by 15 runs (142-
127). Well done to
Elio Guenancia for some good bowling during the match.
C-team lost by 8 runs (125-117).
ROUNDERS: On Friday 11 June, our A team played
against Thomas’ Clapham. It was a tight game. Georgia
Hall scored a rounder in the first half which kept both sides
very close. In the second half, Zara and Ella both scored
rounders and our fielding was good. We lost by just half a
rounder on the final ball. Well played everyone.
Georgie Mercer – Class 3N
On Friday, the B team played a match against Thomas’s
Clapham. We had to play two teams because they had 30
girls to choose from. The first match we didn’t win but the
second game we drew. We had to toss a coin on both games.
The rounders match was fun and lots of parents came and
watched in the sunshine. At the end we had a kitkat and a
juice, shook hands with Miss Firmin and went home.

COMMON ENTRANCE NEWS
Outstanding 13+ Common Entrance results for both the
Upper School and Northcote Lodge with everyone passing
with flying colours to the school of their first choice.
These included, for the girls, 6 to Benenden, 3 to Wellington,
4 to St Edward’s Oxford and 3 to Marlborough;
and for the boys, 3 to Eton, 3 to Wellington, 3 to Dulwich
and 3 to Bradfield, as well as Harrow, Stowe, Tonbridge
and other top schools. Fantastic! We are very proud of
all their achievements.
Around the World
It’s almost the summer holidays! Miss Moran and Mrs
Preece will be running a holiday programme
for the first two weeks at the
Vicarage. We will be exploring different
countries, enjoying different craft
activities and participating in some
sporting activities in the afternoons.
