VICARAGE & 50NL · WEEK 4 · FRIDAY 25 JANUARY 2013
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW...
There has been much fun at both the
Vicarage and 50NL this week. The
children have built snowmen, had the
“best ever” PE lessons on the common,
they have enjoyed being covered head
to foot in snow, lying in the snow and, of
course, throwing snowballs.
Lower School Teachers
NOTES FROM THE HEAD
Morning drop off: Please note that morning drop off is from 8.20. Children must not be left unattended in the grounds or
come into their classroom before 8.20 unless they have a sports practice or choir. On Thursdays children should try to arrive
by 8.30 to ensure we are in church in good time. On all days the doors will be closed at 8.35.
Scooters and Bikes: We strongly urge you to take your scooters and bikes home after school as there has been a spate
of thefts from both the Vicarage and 50NL, especially over the weekends. If you do need to leave them, a padlock may
help act as a deterrent.
Mrs Sarah Graham – Head of Lower School
JOSHUA SAVES THE DAY
The prep N children were hugely excited about dressing up for our class play! They worked hard to re-enact the story of
Joshua and the battle of Jericho. The key lesson being that if you have faith in God, anything is possible.
CLASS 3 ART EXCURSION
Class 3 will be visiting the Courtauld Gallery on Tuesday
29 January to explore and experience the works of Henri
Matisse, who is our art topic this half term. An art historian
will lead a talk and a tour around the gallery and the
children will then have the chance to do some sketching
activities of their own.
Please could you ensure your child wears full winter
uniform (including hats for the girls), and provide a NUT-
FREE disposable packed lunch with two drinks in a named
plastic bag. The buses will be leaving at around 9.00 and
returning to school by about 1.30.
MILL ON THE BRUE TALK
All Class 3 parents are invited to attend an informal talk
about the Mill on the Brue trip next term. This will be held
on Monday 28 January at 2.30 (not 3.00 as printed in
the term dates) in the Hall at 50NL. I will show you a short
DVD and some slides, and there will be plenty of time to
ask any questions you may have.
DELIVERIES TO 50NL
Please can any forgotten items for Class 2 & 3 children,
such as musical instruments, PE bags and shoes, be
either dropped to 50NL by 9.30, or if later, given to the
school secretary based at the Vicarage to avoid disturbing
the teachers during lessons at 50NL. Thank you.
Mrs Caroline Pawlak – Deputy Head Lower School
HILARY HALF-TERM 2014
A number of parents recently contacted us to say that the
half-term dates for next Hilary appear to be out of kilter
with those of other schools, and asked if we would look
into it. Well, we have, and they are indeed out of line, so
we are pleased to say that next February half term will be
the week Monday 17 – Friday 21 February, instead of the
previously advertised 10 –14 February.
We will be reviewing 2015 onwards – historically, our half-term
has always been set as Week 6, which is exactly half way
through the term – but it makes no sense not to try to fit in with
what the majority of other schools are doing. We will advise
parents in due course, and apologise for any confusion.
LOST PROPERTY OFFICE
We have lost a red, white and blue maxi micro scooter
with union jack bottle holder and blue handwarmers. Last
seen in the scooter park at the Vicarage. Named (Poppy
Webster) in marker pen (slightly rubbing off). If found
please contact Katie Webster on 07841 160 440 or
katiebunbury@gmail.com.
Rupert Stuart-Lee and William Knapman have both
lost their named red school hats . If they turn up, please
could you hand them into the offi ce at the Vicarage.
